All Welcome
he felt lost still.

perhaps that was why he stood on the edge of the island, facing the sea not land. it beckoned him, it sung his names with its crash against snowy shores.

it felt as if the sea held something of his, took it from him the moment he had crossed the bridge to the island and refused to give it back. why wouldn't it give it back? why couldn't he be whole?

what was missing?

anger welled in his chest, a current as strong as the riptides. boyish features sharpened with his self-turned anger.

and he waded into the ocean.

feeling its deathly chill immediately.

Alike most recent days, Arashi had wandered the beaches with an aimless mind.

It was better this way.

He would be left alone.

...or so he thought.

Off in the distance, something caught his eye.

An intruder? A whelp of Blackwater of similar mind to him? Could it have been possible that another felt unease here too?

Arashi advanced, hoping to get a better scent. It would need be known whether he was welcome on this land or not. If the latter, the hound's presence among their ranks would bade him report the intrusion.

There was little time to decipher this, however, as the puny thing pushed itself within the gaping jaws of crashing waves.

Hey! Have you got a death wish or something? The man shouted aloud, assuming he would be heard over the rolling thunder. Get out of there before you get killed.

Closer.. closer, he moved. If things went awry, the wolf would need be pulled from the depths before the fate of drowning was met.

it was a man who came to him with calls.

pointing out the ideocracy for his descent into the cold waters. and yet in a way he couldn't tell the difference between the cold water and blackwater.

WHY!

he answered with an uncharacteristic raising of saltwater painted hackles, a wrinkling of his scarred muzzle.

who was this stranger?

why did he care what happened?

"WHY!" Why? This wolf really was an idiot.

Damned fool.. Arashi muttered briskly before trotting forward, lunging straight into the water.

Limbs fought against the pull of the water. The frigid substance had numbed his toes by the time he reached the sight of brown and white fur.

Roughly grabbing the boy's scruff, the hound drug the combined weight back to the shore. Once his feet felt rough sand beneath their nearly lost touch, the pound of fur within his hold was released.

Arashi now stood well above the much smaller wolf, body soaked from the neck down.

Fool! He repeated, spitting in the other's face.

Are you completely deranged, or were you looking for death? Had he been trying to give away his own life as though it were a gamble, or did he have no comprehension of the power the waves held?

please check with me before PPing next time <3

he was scruffed.

grabbed and dragged back to the shore. his face spat in repeatedly as the man hurled stupidity at him.

very few moments at veran bubble with such bitterness and jaded feelings. enough to bristle further in anger. snapping his teeth at the man in warning for him to go away.

perhaps the island had done what had been promised to him, made him less of a coward.

I'm SOO sorry! It completed slipped my mind when I wrote that!

Once the bundle had landed upon the sandy beach, Arashi took a small step backward, just barely escaping the yaps of flashing teeth.

You're welcome. He scoffed, nostrils flaring.

An inch deeper and you would have drowned. Or.. was that what you were hoping for? The hound drawled sarcastically, crooning with a deep snarl.

anger.

hot, deep, furious.

he had never felt so...utterly disrespected. he had not asked for this man's help or his accusations. he had never even seen this man before.

how dare he?

veran snarled, an ugly sound from an ugly boy.

then turned his back and made off further down the island. not interested in being near this man any longer.

Puny, angry snarls. It was all that could be heard from the boy.

Soon enough, he had turned his back to Arashi and departed without a word of farewell.

Ungrateful little brat... The hound muttered before continuing on down the beach.

Why did he even bother? It was only proving to be a waste of time.
