I have been given full permission by @Kailoh Saya to powerplay him and the end of his life
It was around midnight; they had been sleeping peacefully, bodies intertwined. Alys' had been staying in the valley for the last week, as her due date was so near, and Kailoh had taken up the brunt of the patrolling. They'd seen no more loners, and Derg was nowhere to be seen, but Alys would de damned if she left the vale. If only she could have seen the future.

"Alys. Alys!" Kailoh's voice snapped Alys awake, and it took her a moment to realize that the tunnels were shaking. "Come on, love, we need to move - now!" His words snapped Alys into gear, and she leapt to her paws, bolting down the stone passage, Kailoh streaking behind her. The shaking grew more intense, and soon, dust and debris was raining down upon their backs. Chunks of rock were falling, tripping them, cutting them. Alys dodged a particularly large one, then there was a loud grunt from behind her. She gasped, and turned; Kailoh was pinned underneath the same rock, straining, his blunt claws scrabbling as he tried to free himself. As Alys made to help him, he growled, "No - go!" He shouted over Alys' refusal to leave him, telling her desperately, "There's no time! Leave me!"

Alys obeyed; the entrance to the tunnels was in sight. There came a loud crashing, and the tunnel began to fully collapse. Alys cried out as her mate was buried under the rock, and she bolted, tears flying behind her as she ran. She did not stop running until she hit the twins, and she turned back to face the tunnel, only to find it gone. There was no way she could rescue him, but she knew there wasn't even a chance he was alive. Her breath came in ragged gasps and she broke down, feeling as if her heart had just been ripped from her chest.

"Kailoh..." Alys whimpered to herself, curling up on the ground; her entire body shook with sobs, but there would be no one around to hear her; the closest wolf was likely in Mereo, many miles away. How long she lay there, she wasn't quite sure; dawn was approaching when she came to.

She went into premature labor. And she didn't remembered a damned thing about it - the result of shock and trauma, mostly. She birthed two dead whelps. The Matriarch was no more - she had no mate and no family to lead. Eventually, Alys took her two pups and buried them in front of the now-blocked tunnel entrance, as close to their father as she could get them. More tears fell from her sunny eyes, but there was no light within them, not anymore. Eventually, she turned and left the valley, heading towards the only place she could think of - Mereo.
