All Welcome
A symphony of nightsounds brought the rolling fields to life in the dark. Long Rain’s ears were pressed forward to listen, and her eyes scanned the night with a wide stare. She hunted for something: a quick midnight snack, a place to hunker down, a face among the hills. It didn’t matter.

The hours without sunlight were not yet too cold to enjoy, and the moonrays that successfully fought through clouds to reach the ground had alighted the fields with columns of silvery spotlights. This was not a night to waste asleep. She stood tall among the lengthy green grasses, their thick blades grasping at her long limbs with a familiar touch, making her think of Bending Creek.

Quietly, she resumed her restless prowling.

Her eyes never left the stranger, though her ears turned in all directions to catch the sounds of the night. Just in case this one had company.

It wasn't long before she came upon the squat opening of a warm badger set. There was a vicious growling from inside the dark burrow, which Long Rain hesitated to heed. She flinched back from the sound initially but went forward again, sniffing curiously and wondering about what thing could make such ominous sounds. Not wolf, not cat, but something else...
