Overhead, the skies were gray and dreary, just as they had been since the early morning hours. She spared them a lingering look, wondering if they'd give way to rain by the later afternoon. She'd continue with her plans regardless, though, so jogged further from the mountain and curved a path along the edge of the bordering ridge. Up ahead spread the sea of golden grasses, and that's where she set her sights.
She expected more signs of others, but they never came so she kept up her pace. Evidently, the flatlands pack had fled the area. Or dispersed entirely. Or suffered immensely in the storm's aftermath. She could scarcely care, so long as they didn't resurface somewhere else too close to the mountain.
Pleased with this finding, she tracked deeper into the grasslands after the pungent scent of the herds here. With a pack lording over them, she'd not been able to get near enough to them to take stock in their status in far too long. If they did decide to winter close to here, they could undeniably be useful to the Spire. So, she made it her business to get a closer look.

Zaria made her way through the high golden grass she used to know so well, this wasn't her home anymore. She even changed her name because her Dorthran name didn't matter. Everyone who talked her tongue was gone now. She was the only one left, even though she had been kicked out and had despised some of the culture, it was still the only reminded of her past family. Oh, how she had hated traveling to here, and for what?! Her father had decided to leave again, indecisive idiot. Still, if Zaria liked to admit it or not, she had some unresolved issues.
She wanted to know why they left. The bison were still there, what could be the reason of the Khalas disbanding. Zaria could only think of one thing; The Khal, her father, being killed. So with that on her mind the slender and young female was searching for her father's body. Maybe she could find hints of a fight, plus, with the pack being gone she could also get her collecting of poisonous herbs she had to leave behind. But that plan of hers was quickly interrupted when she found a stranger between the golden plains. A dark female.
The slender female didn't smell like a Dorthran wolf anymore, she smelled of Alphas Fitz and his mountain, but she looked the part. Her green eyes fell on the female and let out a chuff that she acknowledged the other.

She covered ground steadily, although did find it hard to gauge exactly how far she'd gone. With the sea of golden grass spread around her in all directions and the going incredibly flat compared to what she was used to, it was not what she preferred. The bison scents did grow stronger, though, so she knew she was making some headway.
From scent alone, it seemed that the herds were doing well. Plentiful, and of varied ages and sex, she eventually spied them on the distant horizon, clustered here and there with some grazing and others peering off into the distance as imposing sentinels. About this time of year, the spring's young would be well-established and needing to prepare to face their first winter. She could only assume that the spring and summer had treated them well to make them strong. Of course, winter could change this.. so much so that they may migrate many miles, or maybe just to slightly better foraging in the southern stretches of the flatlands.
Try as she might, there was no telling what would happen come the depths of winter. She was loathe to think of it right now, so readily turned her attention to the new sight of a female dressed in tans and browns -- not all that different from the color scheme of the grasslands. To her chuff, Amekaze canted her head and regarded her neutrally while she slowed down to get a good, long look at her. She did not smell distinctly of this place (nor of anything in particular she recognized), so her initial concerns of a hostile leftover from the pack faded somewhat. But, observations did little to tell her what brought her here as well. Ame remained guarded, but let her curiosity be openly known.
"Tracking them?" she asked with a swing of her snout towards the dark silhouettes in the distance, unsure of how else to break ground between them. Ame still did not know if she was a neutral presence or not, so was ever watchful of how she would be received.

Zaria stood there, and kept her green eyes on the female before her. She also didn't know where the dark female came from but all the other wolves in her fur made Zaria decide that she wasn't a lone wolf. The slender female was a bit tense around strangers since she didn't know what to think really. But then the dark female spoke. Only Zaria couldn't understand what she was saying. Tracking? Oh wait, maybe she heard it before. It was prey related wasn't it? Yes, it was. Zaria had to think for a moment and then looked at the bison. She shook her head. "Bison no alone hunt," she returned in her slowly growing english vocabulary. She was already doing so much better than before she got accepted by the alpha of the silver tipped mountain. He accent was clear in her voice.
"Zaria no more, Dorthran. Khalas left without Zhavvi," she explained to the female since well, it seemed like the female was very cautious around these lands. "Zhavvi now names Zaria and lives with Alphas Fitz," she added and looked at her. She was curious to see where this female came from. Zaria could socialize if she wanted to. She was curious about this female and wanted to know about her. "Whoes you?," she asked, with a hint of suspicion. She had just told the other who she was, which might not be the smartest thing to do. But, her name wasn't really well known around here, so why not. She liked to test her new name on her tongue.

An answer came, and Amekaze's ears twitched at the unexpected handling of the words with an accent she had never heard. Simply put, and not quite how most would reply, she nodded to signal her understanding nonetheless. Then, the earthen-toned female spoke onward.
There were strange words interspersed. She had to listen carefully and think about what was being said. Zaria, Dotharan, Khalas, Zhavvi, Fitz... she fought the furrow of her browline. The red male said they were foreign-speaking wolves, and she realized swiftly that this was certainly a remnant of that -- and that she was telling her outright, even if it took the dark alpha a second to piece it together with so many strange titles sprinkled throughout. There was something about being left, and a different alpha now (assuming one elsewhere in the Teekon, but Fitz didn't ring familiar to her). She could not yet make heads or tails of this, but went with it all the same since she was not aggressive.
"I am Ame," she said. "Of the Sunspire," she provided with a gesture of her snout towards the tallest peak of the range behind her. If the female was from the grasslands pack at one point, maybe she would know of them or maybe not. She made it a point to keep the Spire out of local news when she could; some wolves could easily not know about them if they never ventured deep enough into the mountain range. She was fine with that sense of secrecy. "Do you know why they left?" she asked. Was she here looking for them or the answers to that herself, perhaps?

Zaria repeated the female's name in her mind. Then she looked behind the other and saw the mountains, something she would never dare to enter since known to her previous culture all the dead bodies were laying there, as close to the sky as possible. It was also a bit of a difficulty for her with Silvertip Mountain, but since she was no Dorthraki anymore she disregarded all the sacred rules. Plus she hadn't found any bodies yet. "Zaria from Silvertip!," she returned and then pointed her muzzle at the mountain in the distance with the white peak. She was still wondering why the tip was white. One day she would travel all the way up!
Zaria then shook her head, saying No. Her green eyes looked around, her neutral stance of her tail was a bit lowered because she was sort of sad about it. "Zaria not know," she returned to the black female. "Bison is ..." She paused because she had to think of the right word for it. "God. Bison is god for Dorthran culture. So this is....." What was the word heaven? She looked up and then remembered. "Golden Plains were Sky for Dorthran." With sky she meant heaven, she always had an interesting way of expressing herself. "Khal is alpha. Maybe Khal.. murder. Khalas gone when he murder. Khal was Zaria's Father. Zaria not know where Father is," he admitted, because maybe this female had seen them move somewhere from her mountain. Probably not but still. She kind of wanted to talk about it to get it off her chest.

She nodded slowly as understanding pieced itself together. Silvertip was a familiar landmark, albeit not a pack. She'd remember that, though, and tied the name Fitz to it for reference's sake. "Ah, Silvertip. It is a good mountain," she said, making recognition clear to Zaria but withholding the details of why this was so for now. Amekaze had spent a share of time there as a loner, although she had actually favored the nearby Gryfalcon's Keep. The mountain offered good hunting grounds though, even for a loner, so to know a pack settled there made sense.
Nevertheless, it seemed Zaria had no answers on the grasslands pack's demise but she shed a little light on their culture. Of bison as gods, their golden plains as sky, and khal their alpha. Some of it was still confusing, while other pieces did make sense. She hummed softly. "Mm, maybe you are right.. and it was murder then. If the bison are well, which they seem to be from here, I would not think they would want to move on." Her thoughts on it, that was, but they were nothing concrete. They would be good hunting for the winter if they stayed nearby. Any pack would consider it valuable. "I have seen nothing to suggest a cause so far. To me, the pack seemed to disappear as quickly as it had appeared.." She'd barely known where they'd come from. "But, I had only known of the pack from others.. never from very close on my own," she admitted.
The note of the khal being her father was one point that posed questions. The earthen-toned girl seemed perhaps a touch sad about it if the mountain alpha could assume based on her tone. Perhaps there was sorrow in the separation, but Amekaze didn't pry.

Zaria some how liked this female because she was saying good things about Silvertip and she seemed to be very honest with her answers. Zaria didn't have the feeling that she was tricked. This was rare, yet she knew that she was speaking to another pack wolf, so that might make more sense. Loners were often unsocialized, at least in Zaria's opinion. The slender girl nodded in agreement. If her father would have been murder she actually wanted her to be the one to do it. Then she would have defeated her Khal. This might sound terrible to other wolves who didn't understand her previous culture. "Khalas being here so short is what confuse Zaria," she returned.
Her green eyes fell on the dark female before she decided the continue. "These golden lands... were promised lands. Khalas travel far far far! So tiring. This was end. This was what was promised. Now they leave? Why leave? This promised!," she spoke and shook her head. Maybe it was the prophecy all along that she would be the only one to survive. Who knows? There was a lot to think about for the young girl. She had barely been out of her teenage years after all. So being on her own was natural and unnatural at the same time. She would definitely get a shock the upcoming winter. She was not build for that, or ever seen snow. She only knew hot weather. "Khalas never allow other wolfs close to bison. If Ame knew Khalas Zaria surprised!," she spoke then.

She had seen a great many packs come and go over the span of her years in the Teekon, so perhaps this was simply another case of it. Natural flux happened all the time and in the end, her curiosities wouldn't run exceptionally deep. For her and her mountain pack, it was better they were not here. Simple as that.
But this young wolf Zaria was an interesting look into their depths, even if she had seemingly been ousted. Perhaps it had saved her, somehow.. especially if something had wiped them from this existence. She shared the sentiment of confusion on why they were here so briefly, and Amekaze nodded her head slowly with her expression set with thought. She confirmed they came from far, far away, and to not stay very long seemed... unwise? Or not intentionally, most likely. "Then to leave the promised lands willingly after such a long journey.. it does not seem like it would be done on a whim," she murmured. If she had found her promised lands, she'd stick to them. "And perhaps it was for the best that you no longer ran with them.." The implication clear -- at least she ran at all, whereas the rest of the plains pack may be extinguished entirely. Although, this had likely already occurred to Zaria.
Nevertheless, to know that they did not let wolves near the bison came as no surprise. It had been a fleeting concern of hers -- not that she had hunted the bison often, even when they lingered closer to the Sunspire in seasons past. "I only knew very little about them, really.. and mainly what I did know was only from scents in the flatlands," she smirked subtly; her mountain perch and her own curiosities kept her just connected enough while maintaining her own secrecy all at once. The red wolf she'd spoken with had also been informative, but she was certainly not one of theirs. She remembered about their poisons, and bizarre tongue. "But you are the first I have spoken with directly," Ame glanced over the female again; she certainly had a distinct look about her, even with her youthfulness.

Zaria thought about the other female's words. If she wouldn't have left maybe then she wouldn't be here now either. Still, she didn't care if she lived or died. She still didn't. She proposed to her father to kill her, but he hadn't dared. Of course not. Coward. Zaria was glad on the one hand. She was rather pleased with her life now. She had some friends even, which was a rare thing for her. Wolves that stood behind her. Maybe it was her new name that helped. "Maybe," she returned quietly. She did not have anything more to say on that topic for now. It was more her own mental process that needed to expand on this topic.
That clarified a lot when Ame told her about the fact that she did not know the Hoshor wolves. "That is okay, you know one now," she spoke. Zaria was kind of glad that the culture was gone, it was a shock to her at first but now she was starting to think of the good things it would bring. It pushed her to learn better English and how to go on without the ones you depended on. It was a wise lesson for the young female. Maybe the mountain would change more of her views. It would be interesting. "Zaria go now," she spoke to round up their conversation. "Thanks you for talking to me," she added, since she did genuinely liked the conversation.
