He wandered on. Thinking. Plotting. He would build his own pack but he needed members. Recruits.
Where would he find them?
He wandered through the forest, being mindful of the panthers that could easily be scented. His restricted vision didn't help much. But that was past and this is now. Now, he wanted to start his own life.
He knew Mor had tried to come this way. Said she would in the name of Quen's memory. The Wise-Woman was long gone. He just hoped Flicker didn't have the same idea.
He wanted to look for herbs to carry with him. Moss, perhaps willow bark and borage leaves. And just about anything else that is helpful, he supposed. Foraging was often better with two pairs of eyes than one -- though in his case it would be just three eyes.

There was something foreign in the air of these woods. Her hackles prickled as she slunk through the forest. She had gone a bit further from home than she normally dared to. She had considered attempting to visit the northern pack, if only to see the earthen female that had been shooed off from Blackfeather. Jakoul enjoyed her and desired to make amends but the discomfort in her stomach kept her from acting on it. Maybe it was for the best.
She found a distraction in the form of a wolfish scent. Her lithe legs carried her across the land with ease as she tracked down the scent. It was not familiar. It was unique, different than those she carried on her. When she spotted that eerily pale silhouette, a soft whuff escaped her.

His head lifted from a bush at a greeting of another. His eye found her form, not seeing her as a threat, his tail stirred in greeting and chuffed himself. Perhaps she could give some insight on where to go and see if anyone needed help.
He'd hate to be so close to someone who needed it.
He stepped around the bush, getting closer to her; oblivious to any dangers she might hold and all so trusting.
" 'tis fine day gurl, where'd yah hail from?" His accent heavy still. It was a part of him as was his homeland. One he was unlikely to return to. There was nothing for him to return to. He didn't need the rocks, the deities followed him anyway.

For Jakoul, words were hard as is and the addition of an unknown accent threw her. Tired silver eyes blinked in an owlish manner. Their words may have been something of the non-common tongue. She debated her options slowly. She could simply leave without another word, slip away form the dangerous forest and leave the stranger for the felines. Yet she knew she needed to work on her social skills. For the sake of Blackfeather and herself.
Ahh...Her tongue felt heavy in her mouth but she attempted to carry on.
What say?Her ears nervously settled on her skull for a few moments before they drifted back up in hopes the one-eyed stranger would speak again.

He frowned slightly, wondering what she didn't understand.
Then it clicked. Some wolves weren't as fluent as he was and they may not be used to his southern accent. He laughed softly, his gaze apologetic.
"Apologies, miss. I'm Komal." He slowed his speech, making sure to articulate his words in a more northern method.
He regarded the woman with a great amount of curiosity. Did she come from afar where the language was different or was she just used to a more primitive pack? "Where do you come from?" He swallowed. Damn, speaking slowly was hard.

sorry for the wait
Komal. She whispered back the name. It was lovely in the way it rolled off of her tongue. The Merei could not halt the swish of her tail. Any previous embarrassment or confusion seemed to be replaced when he spoke slow and clear.
His question stirred a gentle rumble from her, one of fondness.
Blackfeather. Her head turned back in a failed attempt to try and see her home. All she could see were the trees around them. It was a minor disappointment but it did not seem to diminish her positive aura.

He grinned softly, glad she'd got it this time. That he'd managed to convey his message. He made a note to be more careful in the future.
Her countenance changed too to reveal relaxation. His tail, too, swished with his good mood.
He followed where she tried to look, his crown tilting slightly as if his vision could bend around the trees to the fortress in the plains. He realised that it was the place he'd seen on his way northwards and grinned. "Ah. A mysterious place indeed." He wondered what life was like there. Peaceful, probably. Undisturbed. "Do you search for anything?" Perhaps she was looking for medical plants like himself.
