Charon was out patrolling, tail lifted and head carried fiercely into the air, along Stavanger Bay's borders when he noticed the scent of a stranger nearby. Charon halted to look in the direction, but didn't instantly find anyone. Although he considered finishing his patrol without checking things out, the boy decided against this. He was drawn by curiosity, but told himself that it would be good to make sure this stranger he'd smelled wasn't doing anything funny or got closer to the borders; that he knew there was a pack here to watch out for.

When the youth neared, he saw a black wolf. Charon approached him with the same air of arrogance that he had patrolled the borders with, making sure that the wolf knew that he was part of Stavanger Bay and would not be afraid to defend it if need be. "What're you doing here?" asked -- demanded -- Charon, not-so-polite as always, and he halted at a safe distance, waiting for the black wolf to introduce himself and tell Charon what he was doing here.
