Overhead, the skies were gray and dreary, just as they had been since the early morning hours. She spared them a lingering look, wondering if they'd give way to rain by the later afternoon. She'd continue with her plans regardless, though, so jogged further from the mountain and curved a path along the edge of the bordering ridge. Up ahead spread the sea of golden grasses, and that's where she set her sights.

She expected more signs of others, but they never came so she kept up her pace. Evidently, the flatlands pack had fled the area. Or dispersed entirely. Or suffered immensely in the storm's aftermath. She could scarcely care, so long as they didn't resurface somewhere else too close to the mountain.

Pleased with this finding, she tracked deeper into the grasslands after the pungent scent of the herds here. With a pack lording over them, she'd not been able to get near enough to them to take stock in their status in far too long. If they did decide to winter close to here, they could undeniably be useful to the Spire. So, she made it her business to get a closer look.
