Had Whip not bought a one way ticked down emotionally damaged lane, perhaps he would have been as excited as his siblings for their first hunt. Such a thing was mile-stone in a young boy's life. It was a right of passage, but Whip -- he couldn't care less. With each passing day, his apathy grew, leaving the boy a hollow shell. "Okay," the boy muttered to his father, lacking the childlike enthusiasm of his brothers.
At least this was strictly a family affair...
As Shrike approached, he greated Whip amicably with a woof. The boy did not respond, nor did he even look in the gamma's direction. He was not family (despite actually being a relative). At least in Whip's eyes, he was not to be trusted. It had been a wolf from outside the family to kill Peter -- a wolf like Shrike. Whip, however, hid his mistrust well. He simply stared at his paws and waited for his dad to lead on.
