Sequoia Coast [NaWOWriMo] You should not bite wizards

5. Your toon woke up as an object - toy. Inspired by J.R.R.Tolkien's "Roverandom"

It is a truth universally acknowledged that you should not irritate wizards by biting their fingers. It is also a universally acknowledged truth that little puppies have very little understanding of, how the world works, and they therefore get in trouble. Here is a little story of, how Elfie of Firebirds ended up lying in the sand on the shores. 

You see, around the time his first teeth began to hatch through his gums neither his mother, nor his father - as devoted and adoring they were - had not been particularly thrilled to become chew toys for their offspring. Therefore the kid was provided with a rabbit's foot, which he had been joyously munching on in the warm April sunlight in front of his den, when someone came by. 

"What have you got there?" and old man's voice reached his ears and the puppy stared up to meet a giant with a long, white beard. Knowing that he was in tough competition for this prized thing with Weejay, Elfie clenched that foot, which had already suffered, tightly and growled at the man. 

He did not seem to take it seriously, leaned down, reached for the chew-toy and ended up yelling and ouching, and throwing his hands in the air with a little, reddish-brown puppy latched tightly on one of his fingers. Eventually he managed to shake him off. "Nasty thing!" the wizard growled, murmured a few words and all of a sudden Elfie felt the world around him become bigger and bigger, while he became stiff and hardly able to move. 

The wizard leaned down, picked the now toy-Elfie up and put him in his pocket. Where the boy had remained, until he had managed to gnaw a hole in the fabric and squeeze out of his trap. The wizard did not notice a thing, but the now toy-puppy remain lying in the sand on the shores, contemplating his next move.
