She need not wait long. There was a rustling among the trees; a dark shape came striding forth with the finesse of a wolf but the momentum of a spooked bear. The man looked like a smudge of shadow outlined by the white bark of the trees, which themselves were so narrow that the juxtaposition made Kavik look all that more intimidating. It didn't help that the man so easily dwarfed Ibis; she imagined he might rival the size of Okeanos or maybe even stand taller still, and as much as she expected his approach, she tensed and drew back a step all the same. Trust went both ways and in that brief flickering moment of doubt she felt a lack of it—and then his voice, clear but worried, drawled from him.

Ibis took a quick breath, sharp and soundless next to the weighted steps of the man. She tried to keep herself as calm as she could so that her thoughts wouldn't jumble. It almost felt like she was in trouble, and that was because Kavik reminded her so strongly of her own father—not quite the same size but, the worried expression and lack of hesitation flashed Ibis back to a younger moment in life. It was over as soon as it came though. Kavik stood before her with an expectant, almost nervous look on his face and Ibis snapped back to the point.

Hello, yes, hi. No—I mean, everything is fine. Wow, nice going there kid. Real smooth. Very leader-y. If it wasn't the slight scent of fear she was giving off it might've been the frigid affect to her posture that gave her away, or maybe the nervous smile. The girl clears her throat. I wanted to ask how things were going with you and your daughter. Are you settling in okay? Is there.. Anything you might need? She didn't know what could possibly make it easier or what she could offer him, but, it was the natural thing to flow from her mouth. How could she possibly broach the subject of leadership with this man?
