All Welcome
as badly as she wanted to curl up and rest through the night, it was too cold. geneva knew she could have burrowed in to the snow and insulated herself for a few hours if she was desperate enough - but she had encountered a few wolves by this point. whether they were friends or foes, she was too on-edge to let even the whisper of sleep take hold of her. so she moved through the night; stealthy enough with the moody sky creeping overhead.

in the morning a light drizzle began; the conditions were not quite right for snow, an oddity in the taiga, and the feeling of the scattered drops upon her back was, admittedly, refreshing. geneva was incredibly tired by the time the sun rose up. she took a few moments to shelter herself among some white-barked trees, relieved herself against one of them, and carried on -- at least until her path was obliterated by a snaking river she had not expected to find.

there was no way to tell where it began nor ended; but it was there, sprawling before her like a great blue ribbon. bits of ice and snow floated lethargically across the surface. geneva carefully moved down to the bank and probed at some of the ice with a paw or a touch of her nose; some pieces drifted away from her, carried by the slightest momentum. others sagged in to the water and were soon drowning. nothing that would uphold her weight.

with a deep breath sighing out of her, she sank to her haunches and wondered, now what?
