The Hinterlands were far from his pack, but he did not mind. Sometimes he needed to roam to clear his head. He thought of Keres, probably wondering where he was. Then he did not know why he thought that. Days stretched as he traveled, collecting what he could. The thought drifted from his mind.
It was on those days he roamed near another. A woman. She appeared to be searching for something, and he wondered what it was. Still, he was too polite to ask. He approached at a distance, dipping his head to drink deep of the precious resource. His tail flickered once idly, a silent greeting.
