The owl called down. Samani howled in return.

The moon child did not know what the great white hunter had said, but she had felt a movement in her soul. A smile curved her features as she slowed her pace, watching until the shape of the mighty owl disappeared from her sights. She imagined that it would fly until it had found somewhere peaceful to hunt again.

The young figure padded her way back to the remains that had been left. She collected them and carried them back to her den. It was a special gift, one she would treasure.
