There were times when she wondered what it would be like had she never left. Perhaps nothing would have truly changed about her and she would just be there instead of here right now, but deep in her heart of hearts, she had felt a leave necessary. After Mizuna's death and once the avenging was done, she had felt that getting away was best -- otherwise, she may have spiraled into nothingness and an unfitting existence.
