The Pharaoh and Maegi had a bond. Jakoul had thought the man odd, unusual, alluring. Although odd and unusual were words that could be used for the dark beast too — and here she was with Maegi.

Find man. Follow. Him sick, healer make me help.

I stay. Pharoah make Mazoi. Now she fell silent, eyes turned to peer into the face of her pale moon.
