Wild-eyed, she craned her neck even more, as if it might help free her airway up and gradually, each suffering suck of air brought her a little more, until the afflication passed, allowing her to breath again. She shuddered and shivered, freed from one agony only to lapse further into the other as her bruised ribs protested the movement. 

She saw the spatters of his blood as he flicked his paw. Tiny, red beads that sank into the snow, melting though and dropping out of sight. With another shudder, she licked her lips.
