his stare had become cold upon his wife as gjalla spoke; sun eater for a moment had wanted to act in a way he was not. for her. for the one known as morwenna. mercy was not in him, and so he had made this bad display of it. a weakness.

"we will see where he walk," the chieftain decided, ice ridged into his very tone. he hated himself for not having spilled the man's life into the snow, and struggled with the natural urge possessed always; to blame another.

"if he come back, he bring others. not come alone. think as warriors. but if he come back, he know he die. give him death when he ask."

he spat brother's blood into the snow and turned away from them. "gjalla. you take wolves. follow him or kill him. but if more brothers will come," and why had she said nothing? "then i will know if he have camp."

excuses? it all tasted of dirt. "star eater. you come to middle of river-land now. we guard."
