He knew she had not been hungry when he first found her, but maybe now that she was feeling better, she might be up for eating something. 

She slowly reached for the previously forgotten hare, and Kavik watched while she ate, happy once more that he could help in some way. Their conversation drifted to other things puppy related while she finished her meal, and he could almost forget the awful events surrounding this whole mess and think only about the children he would meet soon.
