He was lost, and it never seemed like he got any closer to finding his way out his own mental prison. Since the loss of his father, his life was an endless cycle of death, war, and sadness. East didn't even recognize himself lately; he hadn't been helping the pack much, and that just wasn't him--he was a warrior. He had gladly dedicated his life to Drageda, and so it was confusing to feel so apathetic about it now.

He was starting to feel like everyone would be better off if he just left. Maybe he needed to start somewhere new anyway. It tore at his heart to leave his mom after they had finally started to repair things, but what good would he be to her if he only felt useless all the time. The call from Blixen was the final push. More death and despair--he just couldn't do it anymore. He knew he would be considered a coward--never to be allowed to set foot here again most likely, but in that moment, all he could think was that he needed some relief before he exploded. So, instead of heading to the gathering, East made his way to to the borders. He stopped just as he crossed the edge of their territory, casting a wistful look over his shoulder and considering staying for for a brief moment. But no, he needed to go, so he turned and walked from the cliff, unable to look back as he left for fear he would lose his resolve.
