She was frustrated with him, but Kaertok thought he had brought the right thing. Apparently, he had not dug deep enough. He continued to clean the two babes until they looked dry enough, and he turned to see yet another wolf arriving on the scene. Figuring she (or one of the others) could take over if the puppies needed more cleaning, Kaertok drew in a breath and set off to find more of the flowers: this time digging deeper and bring them roots and all.

He dropped them at the gray and silver wolf's feet, once again watching as Raleska's eyes opened to focus on his face for a brief moment. Kaertok took a step closer, whining softly. He wasn't at all sure if she was going to make it through this, but keeping her as conscious as possible seemed like the right move.
