derg was the second type. their teeth scraped along his face, right over the old scars, and with impressive speed, he spun around and struck. his jaws snapped shut over renard’s muzzle – how cute, he was learning – and he twisted, putting all his weight behind –

renard let him, laughing as derg slammed them into the ground. the impact forced the breath from their lungs, but they’d had worse; twisting in place in the wet sand, they drew their hind legs back and kicked out hard at derg’s stomach.

he’d been so upset about doing it to donovan. they wouldn’t have the same problem.
