The woman's paw raised and so did the serpent's hackles, lips twisting into a snarl. She did expect the woman to have the guts to strike a child in what she believed was her own land, thus Mira was too slow to dodge when she saw it coming, and was struck by the adult. My mother would never hurt me, She snarled, unaware that statement could easily be proven false by Hydra if Mira ever needed to be culled. Fangs bared, she leapt to the adult, wanting only to tear flesh and chase away.
