Palisander was dead, so Olive sought the coast. Anywhere but the forest that held so many memories.

Anywhere else.

The silvertoned seraph sprinted, the entirety of her soul stretching and contracting rythmically with her body as she moved. She flew across the earth, and there was no certainty that her paws were touching the earth with this action. Her emotions propelled her onward, further and further, until her legs could run no more and she fell in a heap, lungs heaving for breath.

Was this her punishment for defecting from the life of a wanderer, to call one place home and entertain a family? Such suffering was her own fault, for she knew attachment only led to detachment and pain. Even as a pup, her parents had taught her that value. To become attached to something, to love truly, meant suffering whenever that thing was eventually taken away. It was a wisdom modeled after nature itself, who held no grudges and knew nothing of motives. There were no certainties in life, and the earth owed you nothing. The spirit of the earth simply moved as it did, in endless variety, moving cleanly and freely from one stage to the next, unattached to any certain outcome. It gave as it pleased and took as it pleased.

It was endlessly fascinating and wolves much more pious than she had been able to implement such values [or lack thereof] in their own existence, becoming ever-closer to the universe. She were not yet that skilled and could not, at that moment, imagine how such sage elders could swallow the grief of a life taken. It was too much to contain and she lifted her maw to the sky and howled.

she howled,
and howled,
and howled,

calling for the heavens to give her guidance in what was certainly an otherworldly type of suffering.
and all my days are trances, and all my nightly dreams
are where thy grey eye glances, and where thy footstep gleams
in what ethereal dances, by what eternal streams

Tag for visibility.

Her shoulder pained her where Seregryn's teeth had struck deep and Emaleth moved with a limp, but she did her best to hide the injury from the rest of Drageda. It was embarrassing, first, to have allowed such a blow when all that surrounded her were warriors— naively, she didn't think that they would likely know how best to treat it as a result. She wanted to see Deirdre, though they had not departed from one another on the best of turns, but her pale twin would heal her. Drageda would be none the wiser, or so she thought, and she had told @Thuringwethil that she would be on a scouting mission. To follow up with the wolves who had come to their border, and she had refused escort; Emaleth was born upon this coast, and her family would allow no harm to come to her. She hoped that the salt of the sea had disguised the smell of blood, and that the darkness of the eve had concealed her wound.

Before she had gotten very far at all, the piercing sound of a grieving howl broke over the sea, and Emaleth saw a figure upon the sound, casting her lamentations to the sky. She approached hesitantly, but loudly as she was able to alert the other to her approach.

ahhh sorry for the wait!

Her aria had been interrupted by the enrichment of another; but the disturbance was not entirely unwelcome. Sometimes Olive’s capacity to hurt stung too sharply, and any distraction was a welcome respite. The last, sorrowful tones of her lupine song faded against the nothingness above them. Olive swung her fine head down and loosened her lips around her teeth, ready to welcome the woman when she was close enough to speak to.

But, Olive had fairly keen eyesight and even against the backdrop of the night sky she could perceive that the wolf moved with some pain. Whether the wound was physical or emotional, she didn’t know; the darkness concealed such knowledge. The was silence between then, perforated by the soft shuffling sounds of paws against the earth, until the were upon one another. The sylph tipped her head in greetings.

“Salutations,” Olive greeted quietly. “You… you’re injured.” The woman was unable to ignore the pain she saw in others.
