A youth, not quite a yearling, traveled with a minor limp. His gait had to constantly be corrected, like a grocery cart with a busted wheel. A decent distance from the base of a mountain that soared into the endless blue, Yuda looked both ways only once, yet stayed where he stood for much longer. The male made up of several shades closed his eyes and breathed in deeply and held his breath a few moments.

When his eyelids lifted up, the nearly grown male turned left and began moving at the quick trot he had before. He did not question the direction he chose, nor did he look back towards the forest he could have chosen instead of the unknown area beyond the hook of the grey mass. Yuda never looked back, as it was not in his nature to do so.

It was also not in his nature to be overly curious, if curious at all. The fading ink came around the side of the mountain, and looked around as he kept moving forward. Many territories were looked upon with black eyes that were too old for such a young wolf.

Of all the things he took in, Yuda noticed that a creek was first. The boy nearly walked by, not really caring, but shifted his body so he could drink. He was not aware of when he would happen upon water next, besides the lake his eyes noted in the direction of his trek; but, he did not want to stop at the body of water, he wanted to go around it as quickly as possible before nightfall.

An impulse to search had driven her south. But hours passed, bleeding together into practically a single blink and she had nothing to show for it besides a growing hunger and tired paws. The dark female had gone south and finally, with a disgruntled huff, she decided to turn her nose back towards the north -- eventually in the direction of the Sunspire. It was time she began to head back. With someone so pivotal presumably missing, her presence was needed even more.

The return would not go so swiftly. She jogged in silence with her nose low and ears angled back on a path that soon joined the waterway. Once there, she felt a hint of relief. The water's scent and sound brought her some respite, but it did nothing to bring her answers regarding her suddenly misplaced friend. She slowed, and moved into the water itself. From here on out she would travel up the creek and let her feet and underbelly get wet as she did, knowing it was wise to enjoy these places before winter's freeze came.

There was a while in which she was alone, pensive and listening to the landscape as she went -- despite it having little to say right now. By this point, she had come to doubt she would find trace of Ferdie here. Instead, her path guided her towards a dark wolf who had paused for a drink and she regarded him critically; while he was not what she was looking for, she would investigate him anyway. Ame's approach slowed and her eyes narrowed to see how he would regard her.

Disregarding the the wolf before him existed until he was done drinking, Yuda did not care if it was a kind wolf or a vicious one. His blatantly blase nature may someday get him into trouble, but that amused the boy more than anything. Conflict was the only thing that even came close to happiness, and it was more of a cruel joy that was a simple spark that came and went as the seasons did — except infinitely more quickly. It would be obvious for someone to understand the way he moved within the world if they had grown with him or even experienced what he had; yet even the ones who had known him most would say that there was something darker than the black within Yuda's gaze.

The onyx muzzle faced the liquid that seemed to taste like the scent of the land it flowed through, yet the young male did not process these things. They were useless to think about and they only distracted the mind. After a few moments, his dark head rose in a speed that would have been half the time of most wolves doing the same. Yuda's black eyes focused on nothing, yet seemed to look upon the dark legs of the female before him. His black hole eyes moved to hers and he simply stared. Almost a robot with his actions, the male always waited for the other wolf to act first, no matter the intentions.

It did not take her very long to peg him as abnormal. The mere gestures she usually received came, eventually, and with anything except for any measure of thrill in them. Even his dark stare, which she met unabashed, lacked energy and any indication of a great many things. Amekaze was momentarily caught off guard by the sight of his dark eyes; she was so used to wolves who were a tad more expressive (for the better or worse) than he.

She had paused, narrowed her eyes a bit more, and sought to understand whatever she could manage. His scent said little besides "not here, obviously" and sights left her with many mysteries. So, she moved closer, breathing deep. Passing through? she asked first, having moved her paws to the edge of the waters just a few meters down from him. She had encountered the other lone young wolf several days back near the mountain, and wondered what the occasion was for finding another -- although he seemed older than the tawny female she was recalling, and not so skinny, too.

His black and cream head rose, resting when he was at his full height. Yuda was not large (even if he was still four months shy of being an adult), but he preferred the option of being of smaller stature to easily run, jump, or crawl among the shadows if necessary. A light step was more desired than anything else.

But with the movement to regard the female, he was giving her the privilege of her existence being accepted in any form. Empty eyes stared into her face, neither caring nor feeling anything as she approached; Yuda knew the dark woman was an nonthreatening figure that stood with a musk of curiosity before him.

With the question floating his direction, the male stood for a long moment. Eyes still clinging to her face, his head lowered an inch, with merely his wet muzzle pointing toward the ground beneath him. It wasn't a nod, nor was it not one, but the young male gave no semblance of caring what the female would interpret his actions as.

She saw him shift to seemingly regard her, but nothing else came with it. No words, no real indicative gestures of how he felt.. no nothing, really. Her ears spilled backwards and she regarded him more critically. Was he ill, or just bizarre? His scent did not say sickness (she sniffed carefully to confirm), so it was either underlying or not the case here. She squinted and tilted her head with a soft grunt. Evidently he had little to say.

So she strode a little closer to him, now only a few feet away and decided to investigate from there. This would serve to continue to test his reactions -- such as if a closer proximity would draw something out of him. Amekaze circled around behind him and then proceeded eyeballed him from the other side.

However, the lack of reactions eventually outlasted its usefulness. She had seen enough, and with a low rumble of farewell, she parted ways from him and continued down the river in search, effectively leaving him to continue as he was.
