since discovering the world beyond the interior of the ulaq, acrux had spent a large amount of his time outside. there was so much to see, to do, to play with. just an hour ago he'd gone on an excavating mission to find the evil earth worm who terrorized the land, and now he was off tripping over his own feet while in hot pursuit of the ferocious butterfly.
the winged beast landed on a log (twig) just off a few paces, and the hunter lowered himself to the earth's floor. he stalked (tripped) his way forward, lower end wiggling high in the air with anticipation. the flying menace would be defeated here and now! he lunged forward, mouth open and aiming to capture the startled butterfly.
he succeeded, though now was in the predicament of having the insect fluttering around in his mouth with no way to escape.

Orca was out and about, thinking about Sialuk and her curses. Other than guarding, Orca found herself quite into that brand of stuff for whatever reason. Call it boredom, call it a need for attention—or call it a calling. She now had acquired her own fascination with bones, and searched for some to show off to the leader.
Another caught her attention. Dropping the bones and freeing her mouth, Orca peed on the pile and made way to whoever it was she had spotted. But the insect—the object of their attention—became priority number one as her own “hunters instinct” kicked in. Or maybe competitive nature?
Orca burst forward just as he went for the butterfly; he caught it, though, she being too far from it to get to it in time. But they ended up nose to nose, Orca wide-eyed and laughing.

his very first jump-scare, how exciting!! well...maybe not for him.
where the older child laughed, acrux let out a mighty cry of terror, and a little pee too. he spit out the butterfly like it was a bullet, the wet winged insect launched right at the face of his assailant.
he didn't bother waiting for any sort of reaction as he spun on his heels and stumbled his way back to the ulaq where @Elentari had rushed out from. he buried himself against the fluff of his mother, who having realized his cry had come from simple child's play, settled the panic and fury on her face. she comforted him with a gentle nudge to the back, and ushered him back out to where orca was.
he peered around his mother's foreleg, tears in the corner of his baby blues eyes. he sucked up a shaky breath as he glanced out towards the older child, the initial fear settling in him when he realized it was just a larger child and not a monster come to eat him.
he took a few wobbly steps back out towards the girl, tail swinging low with nervous aniticpation.

Oops! She had scared them!
Ahm sorry!she hollers as he fled. That was not what she meant to do at all! She lay low to the earth now, and as he returned (with his mother watching) Orca remained that way. Her tail thumped happily against the earth the closer he came.
M’names Orca, she spoke real quiet like, so as to not scare him again. She wondered what his name was!

she spoke, and suddenly all of the fear that had invaded him rushed out like it'd never been there. she had a gentle voice, a kind one, and he knew then that she was not there to steal him away. he gave a glance back towards his mother before fully turning and trotting up to where the older girl lay. he gave a few hesitant sniffs before his tail began to mimic her own in a soft and steady sway.
she introduced herself, and he let a nervous tongue sweep out to lick his lips. "me a-rux," he introduced, eyes gleaming bright with pride. ocra, her name was orca. "or-ca," he practiced, her name simple enough to get on the first try. "orca play?" he asked with wide eyes and a toothy smile.

Aye,she agreed, chipper to see and hear him having warmed up so quickly. That was good, and showed signs of his own confidence. Bouncing around him now on light feet, she asked,
what shall we play, ah-rux,she repeated slowly, leaving plenty of room to correct her.

the earlier fright was long gone in the wake of a possible game, and oh boy! she wanted to play! he thought for a few moments as the older youth bounced around him, mind running wild with possible ideas. eventually he made a decision and looked towards the older girl with wide-eyed excitement.
"hide an' teek!" he announced as their chosen game. he looked up to orca then, curious if she would choose to hide or seek first.
