Finley couldn't imagine what terrible sort of piece of shit would drag a puppy up a mountain with them, but it seemed to her that it might be the same sort that would kidnap one in the first place. And so, her journey took her to the foothills of the Moonspear mountain range and then up, up towards the sky. The shelves of Cassiopeia's View were not nearly as tall as the ones she had traversed so long ago with Wildfire, but the terrain was plenty more treacherous in some places. Eventually, the Blackthorn found her way to a trail that was somewhat safer than the others, likely made by other wildlife as they made the journey East to West and vice versa. Still it was difficult, but if someone wanted to take her daughter off to a place no one would risk following, this would be the way to go.

It took her over a day to get through. The air had grown thin enough near the higher peaks that she'd had to stop and rest in an effort to regain her breath. She laid panting for what seemed like hours before sleep took her, and by the time she was awake again, she felt refreshed enough to continue. It was dawn again by the time she began to find blades of grass beneath her paws again instead of endless dirt and stone, and when the ground opened up and revealed to her a soft bed of green, Finley could not help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Mid-day found the Blackthorn further South nearing the edge of a forest she had never before seen. From her vantage point, she could see plains stretching ahead to the West. It was away from this that she turned, finding it hard to believe that Lucy's captor would have taken her along open terrain. The forest struck her as a more likely route and so she set off again towards the trees to the North, her every sense still reaching for any sign of her daughter, as she'd been doing since the moment she'd left the Caldera.
