The adult wolf seemed to completely ignore his blunder—it was for the best and saved young Ephraim's ego a light bruising, but at the same time, served to make him feel ignored as well. He backpedaled and glared up at the newcomer, who introduced himself as such, but the small coywolf pup had nothing to say in response to that. Everyone was a newcomer to his limited world. He could go farther down the beach without getting in trouble if he had an adult accompanying him.
