All Welcome
The short break was justified by their proximity to the island. Ying did not know how close they were, but assumed by the growing scent of sea salt that it would only be a short while before their destination was reached. She nudged @Ruo's shoulder, huffing into the sand-stained fur. I'm going to hunt, she told her. The huntress wandered off, impartial to her cousin's company, as she searched for a trail.

Hunt with Kyr?

It was the following day after her agreement with the dark forest's Lead that she would be staying their amongst he and his few young followers. Now she were too a follower amongst them though had every intention of proving her worth and quickly so before things became too official. She wanted to be a wolf remembered amongst the foundation of their home.

So she would tend to her forming pack by hunting and off she went out from the forestry north towards the plains. If she found not here then she could continue on to  the coast. She soon took scent of another and then sight - a wolf light in color which she woofed out to in greeting.

eee!

Ying's mood had improved since meeting with Ruo. She still wasn't excited about returning "home", but she wasn't brooding anymore. That was a good thing, right?

The greeting was returned with a quiet chuff. If there were two of them hunting, it would be easier to take down something worthwhile. Hunt with me? she asked, unwilling to acknowledge the bluntness of her proposal.

Through blunt words of an exotic accent, the woman asked if she wanted to hunt with her and to that, Vallkyrie nodded. She had her fair share of hunting along with other rogues and for the most part it ended in good results.

The herds are only just returning but maybe we will still find something bigger then hare. She spoke, bringing herself to align with the woman, keeping up a slow, soft trot as she sniffed between the air and ground as she searched.

The huntress gave an apathetic shrug. Anything would be better than nothing, and nothing would be better than more birds. What you call them, uh..., Ying searched her mind for the word, The things, live in holes and stuff. She was thinking of a groundhog, but for some reason, could not conjure the word. A look was turned to her companion, hoping that she might know better.

The pale woman's words were so odd, so different. It was interesting to listen to her as they trotted along through the plain. Rabbit? She thought at first, then pondered on... Vole, mole, weasel, groundhog? Heck, many of those little rodents all lived in holes in the ground. Even larger animals made holes in the ground, including themselves. Pausing, her head lifts, sniffing the air. She thought she smelt something near, but it wasnt just any ol small rodent... what was that??

The suggestions didn't seem to fit quite right. Ying was about to continue explaining but stopped herself, lifting her own head to draw in the scent. The herds hadn't returned yet, had they? A curious looked was turned to her companion. She nodded and began to move toward their new target, using the tall grass to conceal her body.

Long legs bent down, lowering herself as her head aligned with her spine. The dark woman widened the space between her and the other woman as though to arc around the scent which they had found.

After a few moments Vallkyrie could see the creature ahead of them. It was a sheep of some sort, ram or goat. A bighorn sheep, though she didnt know the proper name. The sheep, though holding still dangerous horns, was slight and thin, a youth having been born last spring. He carried a limp with what seemed a broken limb behind him. Vallkyrie instantly thought of the glaciers. He must have come off the silvertip mountains and slipped on the icy slates.

Bad for him, good for them, and much larger then rabbit indeed.

Bighorn did not exist where Ying had come from. She followed dutifully beside the black-furred sylph, timid and wary of further approach. An injury was apparent so she didn't doubt that the hunt would be easy, but the horns that he carried still looked plenty capable of damage.

Ying would wait for Vallkryie to make the first move. If her companion went right, then she would go left and wait for further instruction.

Dont allow it to get to the glacier, we'll loose it. Her words whispered to the pale colored woman, who's back was cloacked in black. It was almost as though she was opposite of Kyr, whom was black with white stripping her underside.

Pushing forward though the Honeyed Pasture, Vallkyrie arced out to the right, knowing her partner would take opposite position so that they may encircle their kill best they could with just the two of them. Had he not been a youth and injured the pair or wolves may not have stood a chance.

The slender woman crept as closely as she could before they were spotted in the tall grasses and the sheep bellowed, breaking off into a limped  run. Vallkyrie, lean and long legged as she were caught up quick. From here, the sheep throught it best to stand it's  ground whipping around to face off his enemies.

The huntress was not a beast built for speed. She relied on force, so instead of moving to follow beside Vallkryie, she stayed a few paces behind. When the beast turned to face them, she sought to move forward, unaware of how much damage it could do.

Ying made way for the sheep's forelegs, dodging a swing of its horns. She stepped back with surprise and tried to snake around to its side, hoping to latch onto its throat.

Vallkyrie, if she had been born a large cat instead, would have been the cheetah. Limber and quick, she danced around the sheep, hoping to keep him distracted as she snapped and snipped at the beast along his side, hoping that with his neck turned, the larger and stronger wolf would be able to seek hold to the his throat.

In seconds, time would tell if her hunting partner would be successful and in that moment, Vallkyrie would whirl around to grip and pull at the sheep's thin back ankle, the one that had been injured. She would cause the sheep to loose his balance and topple to the ground.

The sheep came down onto its lower jaw, bellowing a cry as it fought against fate. Ying looked to her partner and took pause, before moving to straddle the target's back. She latched her teeth onto the back of its neck and began to twist her head, being careful to keep a safe distance from the points of its horns. The goal was to tire the beast, so that moving it onto its side and delivering the final blow might be easier.

The beast was down and despite the fact that he had an injured leg from likely slipping on the wet glaciers, he still had his youth and strength about him. He struggled hard, kicking and bellowing as he lay on his side, her pale partner's grip on the backside of it's tough neck.

While Ying aimed to hold  the sheep in place, Vallkyrie dips low and lunges for his exposed throat, finding purchase and biting down tight. The creature screams out, thrashing, managing to use one of its front legs to smack Vallkyrie in the flank.

The she-wolf yelps and winces, her lower half falling to the ground from the blow but she remains latched onto her kill as she lay beside him, waiting for him to slow his resistance.

Vallkryie's attack worked to counterbalance the sheep's struggle. Ying lunged forward immediately after the kick was landed, securing her own bite just below her partner's. Moments later, the creature took its final breath, leaving the two women to profit from its demise.

The huntress pulled away and worked to catch her breath. You okay? she asked, This is too much meat. I need only some. Taking back a large portion wasn't an option with so much travel left before they reached the island.

Her dorsal stripped partner leapt around, taking place next to her and finding a hold on the creature's neck as well. With both their holds secure it did not take much longer for the large sheep to pass.

Vallkyrie lifts from the lay she had been in into a lazy sit, panting heavily from the excursion of the hunt. I will be. She answers between breaths. She listens to the womans foreign accent, speaking she only needs some. It will not be wasted. She insures. There is a group of youths in the forest I'm staying with. They will do well with this.

After a few more moments of gatherig her breath, she would call out then for @Mal, the only one she knew so far in her forming group personally. Food, she called, so that he may come and join them in the spoils along with any other whom he brought along. After which, she turns to her hunting partner. After we eat and rest, if you have a group too, I can help you carry some remains back to them?  She wanted to insure the woman got her fair share, having done equal part of the work for it.

Only two of me. It is okay. The pair sat and ate, and once each had that their fill, the carcass was split. Ying would have helped Vallkryie pull the remainder (if need be), while claiming a section of the hock for her cousin.
