All Welcome
@Valtivi since he's joining/joined? otherwise it can be AW <3

there was a boy.

one closer to her own age, but not quite so young. more like he had already reached adulthood, only early into it.

and she was...still her.

a girl for a nornir.

yet still she sought him out, to know more of him and see what he thinks of — well, everything, she supposed. her path cut along the creek with a doggish trot.

i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered
where does it hurt?

the standing stones captivate valtivi.

he stands in the middle of them, glacial gaze studying them with intensity.

surely placed by the gods! and the fallen ones, imbedded deep in the scar of the earth they created!

he sits on one such stone now. or what is left of it that the earth had not reclaimed.

what was it to kvarshiem? a place of worship? of sacrifices?

footfalls call for his attention and glacial gaze cuts from stone to the one who approaches, draped in furs of snowwhite.

he was handsome.

it was the first and only thing she could think for a long moment. how he was carved from the snow and ice of winter. chiseled by a thoughtful hand and made at home among the stones.

for a moment she had forgot why she had come.

softly she cleared her throat.

hallo, a tentative sway of her tail.

what was this one like?

though her appearance is different; the godslain's eyes do not linger. do not make her features out to be strange.

she is godblessed.

like the disfigured seer that had walked him to this place.

godtouched.

hallo.

he does not know who she is, does not know of her importance here ... but she greeted him in fjordic. or something close enough.

snakker du fjordenes tunge? words hopeful, dancing upon the air of his question.

familiar, but twisted.

as if somebody had taken her tongue and muddled it. tweaked it. found a befitting thing all together elsewhere.

she did not know what to make of it!

ah, uh! um...talarðu svona? she asked softly. as if it was some type of grand secret!

yet here she saw opportunity.

teach bjarna? share?

there is foreign familiarity; softer sounds against the harsh icy stonecut of his fjordic.

but it is not enough to bridge the gap.

not entirely.

no. the common word falls from his lips in response to her own tongue shared, the question heard in the lilt of her tone but not understood; an executioner's blade. no, he didn't understand her. a favored word for it's simplicity. for it's similarity.

teach bjarna? bjarna! her name? valtivi thinks.

valtivi ... tee ...aech. teeaech. he butchers the common word messily, brow furrowing in frustration. teeach. teeeech? he tries again and again; stubborn to the marrow of his bones.

teech! he chirrups; small tendrils of pride warming his chest.

valtivi.

she held this name close like a treasure — and in a way it was. words that they both could understand between one another felt rare!

she beamed with warm, radiating pride as he stumbled onto the right word.

yes. she nodded her head fiercely. valtivi teach bjarna?

it would not be easy, but together all things could be done, no?

to be able to bottle his frustration and sell it ... would make him a very rich man.

alas, he has to let it burn it's course through his veins; hot and stinging.

but gods bless her, she is patient with him!

her wide, beaming smile more nurturing towards him than he is with himself.

ja. he agrees with a firm nod in affirmation. her first lesson! the easiest and in that, the most crucial, valtivi thinks.

oh!

ja! ja!

her front paws tapped softly in what one might consider a dance. this was a word they already seemed to share! perhaps they should sort through basic words first.

with that she tried —

nei? no, ja?

her happy prance draws a low chuckle from betwixt valtivi's lips.

she understood!

her delight is shared by valtivi, who grins in lieu of paw tapping.

nei. no. ja! a word also shared among them! perhaps this would not be as hard as he feared. their words were similar ... if not butchered. perhaps if the cores were the same it would not be so complicated to twist them to make sense, to translate.

with another word out of the way, valtivi pauses, searches his mind for another easy word.

hva? he tries next. what.
