All Welcome
i bet you thought i was only good to look at,
(did she, though?)
cayetano announces with a grin
dropping the hefty fish
nearly right on top of @Kheviel

he wonders how a girl sobeille’s size
had managed to rope in such a muscular thing.
little does he know she raided the net
carefully set by suzu.
if anything, it was almost her size
scales glittering with pristine health,
if only slightly funny smelling.

he doesn’t give it much more thought,
he’s more interested in kheviel
and the effusing gratitude she would no doubt
lay generously at his feet
for being such a wonderful, thoughtful,
strikingly handsome dude.

Cayetano, it seemed, never left her side for long. She couldn't figure out why. She assumed he merely wanted another roll in the grass, but if that was it, he'd be sorely disappointed, because she was too sore. She reared her head back with an annoyed snarl at the sudden fish dropped nearly atop her head. Its scent filled her nostrils, and underneath the scent of meat was something... else.

What... is that? she asked, sniffing at it distastefully, her nostrils twitching. Where did you get this?

he'd never say no to a roll in the grass,
but his pursuits today were a little more noble.
he places the fish before them
admiring its glittering sheen.
his grin falls away at her verdict
her nose turned away in disgust.

you got cataracts? it's a fish.
he frowns and turns its over
only faintly detecting something pungent.
sobeille gave it to me.

Kheviel heaved a sigh and shrugged. I guess she must've seasoned it with something. Experimentally, she took a small bite and chewed. There's definitely something on it. It didn't taste horrible, so she gave in and took a bigger bite. So, do you plan on feeding me until I'm so fat I can't walk? You've hardly left me alone since Val sent you to me. She eyed him as she chewed, wondering what his game was.

if there's seasoning on it,
maybe it takes away from the taste of rot
fish spoil time was so quick
cayetano was glad for salt.

maybe i like my women fat.
he reaches for flesh and tears a strip of it
smacking scale to teeth
ignoring the splint of a bone.
but it'll take a lot of feedings.
you'll have to think of some way
to repay the favor.

he winks and rips another piece,
the flesh bright red against dark hands.
i can think of a few things.

Kheviel chewed slowly, glaring at Cayetano. She took another bite, chewing some more, still glaring. Then she said, Do you ever think of anything else? Did he have a personality that extended beyond the thing between his legs? She was beginning to doubt it.

she chews, she glares
silver scales neatly sliding down a darkened throat
cayetano licks his lips
fish gristle hanging from whiskers.

sometimes i think about food.
he admits, taking another piece
he winces as something bitter hits his tongue
maybe the fish ate a particularly nasty bug
lots of nasty things underwater.

but really, what’s better?
name one thing.

Kheviel gave a sigh. Name one thing better than sex? Sleep, she said shortly, and chewed, and swallowed, and stared at him with dull eyes. She glanced down at the fish. I told you this thing smelled weird. I won't eat anymore of it. You take it, or throw it away. I don't care. She gave it another sniff, snorted at the strange smell, and turned away.

sleep was her answer?
cayetano’s breath hitches in an airy scoff
i’ll sleep when i’m dead,
he vows
still brimming with youthful naïveté
the hard claws of life
have yet to sink their claws in him

kheviel turns away again,
this time scolding the flavor of the fish
cayetano grins as he eats his full
unaware of the unholy incubus
that stirs in his belly
awakening with fitful tosses and turns
later that night
coming face to face with
what bitter flavor profile
“eating one’s words” has.
