All Welcome
Rhonen chased a bronzed leaf as it skittered al9ng the forest floor. Ears erect, large paws making loud thump as he hit the ground. His laughter dancing beyond the trees. He loved it here.

He decided he would leave this wilderness. Maybe he would try to reunite with his dad, if only to check in with him and his new mate. Forget the plains, Talisman thought, halting abruptly at the edge of a valley on the far side of the canyon.

The coyote turned, deciding he would retrace his steps to the lowlands, then continue south from there. Maybe he would even find @Candle, thank her and apologize for not sticking around with her tribe. He sighed at the thought, then perked up a moment later. Talis already felt better after making up his mind.

He heard a scuffling sound and paused on a ridge line, sniffing the air before dropping his pale blue eyes to the wooded vale below. Through the denuding treetops, Talis spotted a young wolf pup frolicking in the fallen leaves. The sight should’ve sent him scurrying away, though the pup’s appearance earned a soft gasp from him.

Crouching, he let his chin rest lightly on his paws as he watched the pup play.

Rhonen much like a pup his age, was oblivous to the world around him. Except for what held his attention. Which happened to be the leaf.

He pounced and trounced through them, thinking he was following only one, but knowing that as more stirred up he probably lost track quite a few times of the one he had started with, but that was all okay. All leaves made that crunchy sound and they all blew so well.

When he caught the last one finally. He crowed his delight. I ggggot yyyyou nnnow! There was no one to hear his stutter out here.

He bowed his head as he had seen his father do. His body large and brutish like him. Then he looked around for a new leaf to chase. Perhaps that red one or the orange one?

He looks like he could be your son, Talisman thought to himself, which was of course an absurd notion. He had never coupled with anyone, much less a she-wolf. He didn’t even think he was old enough for such things, though the mere sight of the child suddenly evoked many powerful feelings inside the young man.

First, it stirred a yearning deep inside him. He wanted one of his very own. Better yet, Talis wanted many. It wasn’t just because the wee thing was so endearing—which he was, especially playing in the leaves and babbling to himself—or that he suddenly relished the thought of becoming a family man.

His father had always told him he had superior genes. And as he gazed down at the little boy who could’ve sprung from his own loins, Talisman felt a fiercely instinctive urge to spread those genes. He could people the wilderness with coyotes that looked as striking as he himself did.

And if the youngster below was anything to go by, Talis’s children would look like cherubs, absolutely angelic in their beauty. The coyote’s pale eyes veritably glowed as he continued gazing down at him, enraptured by what he was seeing in the present and how it irrevocably shifted his visions for the future.

Rhonen continued on though he froze fonally at a prickling upon his shoulders. He looked around now unsure and realizinf he had traveled far from mother and father.

A soft yip and he stretched and thrn turned towards home. His little nose shifting and twitching as he sought out a scent that would lead him home. Ao much fun, but time to end it now. The unease in his spine grew and he moved.

The adorable little tyke moved out of sight and Talisman bit back the whine in his throat. He wanted to go after him, though of course that was a foolish thought. Feeling a little stupid, he crooked a paw in an unseen wave at the child’s back.

Don’t worry, he thought, reluctantly plucking himself off the outcropping and slinking away into the brush, prepared to retrace his steps now. You’ll have some of your own someday, a notion as exhilarating as it was unexpected.
