open to anyone!
ravens swarmed above, ever watchful as they roosted and cawed. tracking the stormy wolf who'd slunk into their watch. they talked amongst themselves, and ikaros listened with scorn. he could not understand their shrill, haunting calls; though he pessimistically wondered if they were making fun of him. pathetic little wolf, they must coo. nothing but skin, bone, and grief. perhaps they awaited his demise, where they could pick flesh from bone. least then, he'd become something, albeit just measly carrion. perhaps that fate is what he deserved.
light footsteps carried him further, scaling down treacherous paths of rock and rubble. he'd often lean over to peer down into the vastness of the gorge. if he'd fall, or perhaps jumped, he'd meet the chasm, and it'd swallow him whole. he wouldn't, of course. too cowardly. so he continued forth, winding his way up the cliffsides, curling his lip with disdain whenever a pesky crow would dive-bomb him, it's feet grasping at dark tuffs of spikey fur. further and further until he reached it's peek. here, he could sulk and wallow, with only the birds to keep him company.
so he sat at the cliffsides edge, peering off into the valley below with a pensive expression. his chest ached, but not with exertion. an all familiar swell to his throat made him wince, and he wanted to scream out into the still air, pray it'd take his grief and hatred, leech it from his bones. the peak reminded him of home; the desolate, dangerous cliffs of that surrounded dikastes. it made the ache worse.

Chaudry was a man suited to the mountains, able to travel them with ease and relative speed. He knew well that he was a unique creature; superior, powerful. The absence of maman called him back to the vale, and yet his duties told him to wander. His distance from the pack spoke of which voice had won.
A smaller wolf, ravens practically pecking away at him already. The sight was nearly amusing and so for some time he followed at a distance, but in time maman's voice rung in his ear. 'Be kind Chaudry, leave the harsh life of the peaks behind'. His brow furrowed, but with a short-lived growl he moved forward.
A sharp, loud bark intended to scare the birds off sounded as he approached, his head held high.

You look troubled, mon ami.He spoke, standing at a respectable distance.

pulled from his sorrow, ikaros startled. dark fur along his frail spine rose, a failed attempt to make himself seem larger. scarier. crows batted away with caws of panic, alarm. he turned with wide eyes, tail lashing at his hocks. annoyance, written all over his face, ears pinned back against his sleek skull. the man was large, formidable, and panic gripped ikaros' chest. he lowered his neck, head even with his shoulders, and nearly curled into himself like the coward he is.
"what is it to you?" he spat. accusatory, uncouth; not out of malice, but out of fear. had this wolf been following him? has he come to torment him, to join in on the crows ceaseless bullying? he hadn't expected anyone else up on these peaks, that much is sure. he doesn't like it, doesn't like him for interrupting his gloom.

The stranger reeked of fear. It satisfied the cruel part of his mind.
He lowered his head now, offering a smile as though to show that he was not a threat.
Sunset eyes grazed the man in front of him. He was thin, in clear need of a meal which Chaudry's home could offer. It would not be long before the vale closed it's borders, and so the last of their potential guests would need to be collected soon.

Maybe nothing, only showing my concern.Chaudry responded, the tip of his dark tail flicking upwards.
I come from a pack in the vale, I know of the danger this area holds. His words carried no mockery, his voice monotone and neutral.

that smile made his stomach twist and churn. it seemed fake, forced, as if the man was mocking him. his brows pinched, lips curled to reveal a glint of teeth. he did not believe those words. how could be possibly be concerned for a stranger, a wolf he's never met? the concept was foreign, and therefore, false. "concern? do not mock me. i don't need your concern." he growled, weak, unthreatening.
danger. the only danger fresh on his mind was the man standing before him, claiming false compassion. what was his angle? he must have one. he has to. a gaudy crow swooped down to grasp at the spiked tufts on his slim shoulders, but ikaros didn't bother chasing it away. "what do you want?"

The evil in me wants to give him trauma,, I love him
Chaudry lifted his head now, eyes narrowing while the rest of his face grew relaxed, neutral.
You are not naive, a good trait. He spoke, tail lifting halfway.
But you antagonize me with such sincerity. There was a voice in the back of his head; one that told him to bite, to dig his claws in and refuse to let go until the other wailed like a newborn pup.
But maman would not accept such behaviour. His claws would need to be placed elsewhere.
You are thin.He stated it as fact, an observation.
Come, you will hunt.Stepping forward, his nose jabbed the side of the other.
Maybe the man would comply, or maybe he would give the mountain man a place to bury his teeth. He was unsure, and yet curious to find out.
