All Welcome
she slipped beneath the dense canopy of evergreens, the snow piled here few in comparison to the surrounding territories. it was just as cool here as it was upon the glacier, the shade cast down from above keeping the ground chilled.

at least the wind was not so relentless here.

she meandered through the towering trees, their woven limbs extending to dance with each other as she tiptoed below.

she took note of the recent scents littered about, of the wildlife she saw, and most importantly of any men who had recently passed by.

The density of forest reminded her of home comfort. Vaermina had sought shelter among its trees to avoid the biting Winter winds, finding herself appreciative of the dim light. The scent of frosted pine was pleasant, and the raveness took her time trying to uncover whatever secrets the woods may keep.

She became aware that she was not alone as she roamed, and lifted her clearwater eyes to look upon a silverwhite figure who nosed at the forest floor and moved almost silently on nimble paws. Vaermina allowed herself a moment to admire the stranger's pale beauty; only dark coats lived among Cheydinhal, and these foreign hues fascinated her.

she had a shadow.

unaware of how far the shadows outstretched to form the silhouette of another, nephele remained steadfast. a figure formed after a moment, slipping from the foliage with twilight quality.

the viper remained settled, paws shifting as she attempted to drink in the details of her crepuscular follower. female, young, alone. a stirring of consideration swirled within the empty pit of her serpentine heart, and nephele let such musing draw her in a step closer to the girl.

a flicker of her tail is offered as a greeting — as a lure for the lingering fish.

Her presence was noticed.

Vaermina made no move to hurry herself off. Instead she stood quietly, curious but calm, as the pale-nosed yearling turned her lovely face to look upon her. She lifted her chin and maintained her silence.

The other young wolfess veered her way in a careful step; Vaermina followed only with her eyes. She noted the inviting sweep of the stranger's tail and offered a twitch of a velvet lobe in response.

a game.

a game is what they would play.
a game is what they would dance to.

the sway of her tail drew to a steady beat, a smile cracked on sinful lips. a bow then to her swarthy companion, an invitation to join in spirited fun.

the viper bounded off a few paces, head turning to see if her shadow would follow.

The pallid stranger came only a stride closer, a single step. Vaermina watched, cool and curious yet unsure how best to respond. The spiderling was alone, the reigns that once tethered her to the brotherhood and their protection broken; her father would no longer run to protect her.

She needed to be careful. Trust was not something she could so freely give.

Her new acquaintance swept low in a bow - innocent. Vaermina recognised the swell of temptation within her, for without littermates and companions of her own age, she'd experienced a rather lonely childhood. She allowed herself a moment of consideration, then sprung forward to pursue.

and like a shadow, did the girl loyally follow. a grin cracked wide across the viper's lips, an odd sort of eruptive giggles slipping between clenched fangs. what a peculiar feeling this was, this abrupt sort of play. for it was in all ways to the woman an outlandish game.

but a game it was.

she bounded away, tail spinning wildly behind her as she slithered between trees and brush. a glance behind her yet again, a teasing glimpse that dared; catch me if you can!

Fade here? I'd love a new one   :)

She ran for a time, though did not rush. Her gate was a steady lope through the dim woods, the pale-furred wolfess disappearing and reappearing among the foliage. Vaermina found joy in the quickening of her heart, the rush of her own breath, though ultimately she lost track of her new acquaintance and eased to a steady pause.

Bright eyes glanced around, nostrils flared as she drew in the crisp air. She looked for the other she-wolf only briefly before carrying on her way, seeking a quiet place to wait out the storm before venturing beyond the forest.

<3 i'd love another thread if/when she's accepted into yellowstone!

the first time she'd glance behind her the shadow girl could be seen dancing along. a second glance, and the girl was gone. nephele slowed to wait and see if the other had simply lagged behind, but a minute of waiting revealed no one was following anymore.

the viper blew a puff of air through her nose before turning to steer back towards the glacier. she'd barely gone and worked up a sweat, and yet it seemed her brief companion had gone and tired herself out.

with no desire to go searching for the girl, nephele pressed towards the sight of the distant glacier, a rumble of her stomach making her eager to return home.
