Rue had released the bone as gradually as possible, but even so the child ended up kareening backwards from the force of her own pulling. Rue couldn't help it; she let out a soft chuckle. For a moment, the child seemed dazed, and the smile fell away from Rue's expression-- was she hurt?-- but in half a beat the little warrior was at it again. She tugged the bone pointendly away from Rue, backing herself into a good, defensible position in a corner. 

The child had fought hard for her prize, and so Rue would leave her to enjoy it in peace.. mostly. Every now and then she voiced a growl in response to those of the child, to encourage her ferocity and reinforce her protective instincts. In the outside world, there would always be someone ready to take what was yours, the minute you let your guard down.
