Once Anselm's paws were tucked securely beneath him, Gideon simultaneously realized he was defeated and that there was an opportunity for the game to change. He wasn't always the brightest crayon in the box, but sometimes he experienced moments of shocking clarity and cleverness. This was one of those moments.
