All Welcome
Snow fell just as dawn broke, as though the lifting mist from the creek became too heavy in the cold, and returned to the earth in tiny crystals. It looked more like a heavy frost than anything, but shards of rainbows hovered in a semi-circle around the sun, warning of a heavier snowfall that might come later on.

Cygnet could almost see them through her one, squinting eye. Her eyelashes- those that remained anyway- obscured her vision, so she'd rubbed her face against her paws until she'd rubbed away eyelashes and a small ring of fur around her left eye. Her vision was more important than her appearance, though the thought of becoming ugly brought her a small amount of dread.

She did not want to be ugly.
She did not want to be half-blind, either, but the stakes were higher, now. Her ability to hunt would be effected. Her ability to defend herself would be effected. And her chances of someday finding a mate?
Sven isn't that superficial.

The intrusive thought surprised her. It came on a voice that was new to her, one that summoned the young man's face in her dreams, leaving her pining in the morning when she awakened. In moments of near-sleep she fantasized about the fight, and imagined herself patrolling the borders only to discover that he had come to visit her. She imagined him visiting Swiftcurrent to see if she mended, taking a vow to bestow whatever punishment Sobeille was due upon the wretched creature for having harmed so valiant a creature as Cygnet. And as deeply embarassing as these thoughts were, she could at least keep them silent- and it filled her heart with something other than the need for revenge.

She could spend hours here, in these thoughts. Fortunate, for a wolf who needed to take time to heal who might have otherwise become consumed by rage. Pacified, she entertained these thoughts as she drank from the shallows of the creek, briefly scanning the banks with a glance to see if one of the Sea wolf's ugly children washed up, before she began to patter through the woodlands beneath the gently falling snow.
