Dahozhoni Meadow Here where I once

Safiya knew well what could await her. She had been at death’s door more than she cared to admit. Her life had been a series of unfortunate moments and each had taken a piece of her body and soul. And each had left something simmering in their wake and loss.
 
She readied herself, but Soto did not need her assistance. For a moment relief lit up her insides, because she had been truly unsure if she could have helped him. As was her lot as of late. But she promised herself then, she would make time to relearn the skill of hunting with one eye.

The creature screamed and cried. Pitingly really. But it’s end was swift. Something Safiya had not been given. Instead she had been left to survive and as fever and filth ran through her body. She had whispered of dark promises of death and revenge. And she would have it perhaps someday. If she ever saw the beast that took her eye again.
