Sorana's living conditions were... Unconventional, to say the least.

Normally, by this age, she would be following her parents around on short trips around the packlands and play-fighting with her siblings. Sorana didn't have any siblings, though, and Teya's den was unique in being situated on an island with lake water all around. She couldn't follow her parents into the water, so she took to exploring the small island by herself whenever they were away.

It didn't take long for Sora to cover every inch of ground available to her, nor to realize there were others beyond the lake that she didn't have ready access to. Jay and Maia must have come from there, because they weren't here otherwise. Feeling stuck, she spent more time with each passing day at the edges of the island where she could see the forest across the water, loosing occasional girlish howls to see who might respond from the other side.
