All Welcome
the little devil had wandered off from both of his mother's sight, a wicked smile dressed up his punk attitude like warning signs on the road. watch out people, it's bumpy up ahead! despite the delinquent little strut he held, sparrow had spent the morning being an absolute angel, which should have roused the suspicion of anyone who spent more than a minute in his presence.

but his guardians were busy with his siblings and as soon as they made the mistake of taking their eye off him, he'd slipped away.

he was now a ways off, head buried in the soft soil he'd found until — there! he plucked a juicy and magnificently fat earthworm from the ground and set it aside on a leaf he'd plucked earlier. a little giggle erupted from him as he went back to his task, kicking up dirt and sending it flying behind him without a care in the world. if anyone sent up calls demanding him back home, either didn't hear them or outright ignored them.

Luckily for the little fugitive, Ksura wasn’t a complete stick in the mud. He caught the child’s scent trail and considered for a moment whether he’d be allowed to wander off on his own. Not likely, he thought, so he popped by the densite to inform them that he’d track their little runaway down and keep him busy for the next little while…And bring him home tired and perhaps with a bit of food in his belly.

Sparrow wasn’t his- but Ksura felt the impulse to see that all of the Qeya River children thrived. They were crucial for the overall well-being of the pack as a whole, and for the pack’s future. Though if this one developed a taste for running off, then Ksura suspected he might end up leaving by the time he was a yearling to check out the world on his own.

All Ksura could do at this point was make sure that he lived that long. Currently, he had no worries. He followed the boy’s scent, moving along with as much stealth as he could muster, and saw the spray of dirt and rocks before he even caught sight of the youngster. His head tilted to the side, curiously.

Half-intending to cause the boy at least a little bit of surprise, he spoke suddenly. ”Whatcha dooooin’?”

he was so absorbed in his grand plan of magnificent devilry that the approach of the man went unnoticed up until the point of words being sent to the open air. sparrow sprung upwards like a frightened cat, back arched and hackles flared as he let out a pathetic shriek. he turned to glare down his adversary, half expecting to receive a butt-whooping from one of his mothers, but it was only this man again.

he shot ksura a mean little scowl before sticking his nose in the air and puffing his chest out to feign an unruffled appearance. "none-ya-business," he shot out with a curled lip as he turned to continue digging away for his precious worms. he paused after a moment of consideration, poking his head up from his hole and shoving a paw towards another patch of soil close by. "ya dig!" he demanded to the man with an eagar point towards where he expected him to obey.

Woah.

The kid had spunk! Ksura startled lightly to be so haughtily addressed, but soon thereafter he laughed faintly, and cracked a grin. He found the pup's dismissal amusing- and was glad to see that the newest generation of Qeya River children were bold, unafraid to speak up.

An order was given, and Ksura- ever the obedient follower- nodded briskly and stepped forward. "Yes, sir!" He answered, and sniffed around for a moment- as if trying to suss out the earth's weak spot- before he began to dig enthusiastically.
