h-hi.

iliksis was more sedate than usual as he closed in on blackfeather territory. perhaps it was because of his recent encounter with anatha, or his encounter with the two strange wolves not far from where he stood. for the briefest amount of time iliksis was at peace with the ruin he had sowed upon the world, and presently content in his malice and wrong-doing, the wolf stepped foot into the borders of blackfeather.

dissolute as the male was, he did not trespass -- he cast a slender muzzle skyward and his sleek jaws parted in a quiet howl. it had been the fractured corpses that littered this place that first attracted him, and for once in his isolated life, iliksis hoped he would be amongst kin here rather than enemies.

Hello :)

It was true that perhaps he spent too much of his time patrolling around the borders, but he had little else to do. If he was not hunting, or speaking to another wolf of the Woods, he was patrolling. The days, he did not count - for it was difficult to tell the time that past, in the shadows that forever lurked at each tree and the fog that settled often among the forest, as the sky was masked. Hidden in the darkness of this midnight land. The moon would, occasionally, cast beams of light down among the wolves but still the looming blackness remained.

The stench of blood that heralded the borders as he approached reached his nostrils and he welcomed it freely, for he was very much used to the scent of decaying corpses by now. It was only some gore, after all. The howl that pierced the eerie silence caused the perking of his ears and the raise of his head as he began tracing it to the source - and it seemed, after all, that he was not too far.

Emerging from the shadowed trees he did come - muscular (perhaps unusally so for his age) ashen grey figure closing the distance in between he and the stranger, tail rising and expression solemnly serious. "What is your business here?" He inquired, focusing his stare on the inky, dark figure before him. It was true he was not the Dark Master, and he was not the highest of rank, but he would still treat outsiders as outsiders and this would not change.

iliksis wondered what manner of wolf would approach him here, for this sinister forest had a penchant for drawing up the imaginable in him. he was of the opinion whatever dark spirit was shackled to these gloomy woods would be terrifying, perhaps even to him.

it was not a terrifying figure that almost immediately encountered him, however -- it was the ashen-furred figure of a youth. iliksis studied him boldly. he admired the wolf's almost immediate arrival, but he was so young -- iliksis had a penchant for the young, particularly because they often did not struggle against his illicit advances. it occured to him that it would not reinforce his position if he tried to hurt this individual, as inviting as the prospect seemed. instead he afforded the wolf the thinnest of smiles, though he pointedly let his gaze linger a little too long over the young wolf's masculine form.

"my business?" he cast a look about him, wondering how often it was that wolves approached this malevolent glade. "would it not be obvious? do you have visitors often, what with this charming home decor?" he motioned towards the many splintered bones that rimed the borders -- they rackled him none, but he imagined a wolf possess of righteous sensibilities would be most offended by their presence.

He was not blind to the gaze that lingered on his form for perhaps a moment longer than it should - but he said nothing. Words were not truly of interest to him, nor the reasons for the look, so instead he remained as expressionless as the snow around him. Except rather than being so light, Aries was dark - both in pelt and nature. Snow had a certain beauty to it, a lightness, though it intruiged him. It grasped a dangerous beauty, and although it might seem magical it could be trecherous.

His icy gaze remained on the stranger as he opened his jaws to speak, though the words spoken only recieved a grunt in response. The boy knew, of course, it was likely this wolf was wishing to join their ranks but still it seemed common for others to ask when it came to strangers at the borders. Each time someone had done so, and he'd watched, that was the approach made. "It is true we don't have a large number of visitors, but you'd be surprised." His head gave a small tilt, eyes unblinking. "I assume, then, you are here seeking a place in the pack." Aries stated obviously, though maybe it was clear he had guessed this from the start, face still lacking emotion.

"What skills do you bring that you can offer us?" They were not short on fighters, but he supposed they would need some still. After all, he was aware of the caution (or, perhaps simply pure anger) that another pack in particular felt toward them. He supposed it only natural - they had kidnapped one of theirs, and tortured the individual. Perhaps not Aries, but he knew of it (nor was he opposed to it).

iliksis' attention lingered on aries' limbs a bit longer; he viewed the situation in abstract. young boy, vulnerable alone in the dark and sinister woods. strong man, capable and assured in his power. it was not often he had such a chilling ambience, or such an inviting opportunity -- but he kept his teeth clean and denied the want that stirred like a glutton in his belly.

aries had eyes not dissimilar to the strange-plumed boy that he had met by moonspear; they were a frosty, cerulean blue. iliksis had common eyes; yellow, the primary color of his species. there was nothing special about his gaze -- but aries' was special. captivating even.

iliksis could have given all manner of answers, or even played along -- unfortunately, his ugly nature compelled him otherwise. "you have striking eyes." he said matter of factly, the cheerless yellow of his gaze sliding to view aries in full.  "i could take them. that is what i offer you, use that how you may." aries may not have known his pretty blues were spared that day, but iliksis did. he lifted chin ever so slightly, his thin jaw jutting in an expression of firm displeasure: "now, where's the big boss?"

If the boy was unsettled by the strange man's eyes on his limbs, it was not obvious in his expression. Tail flicking slowly behind him, a single brow rose - what, exactly, did this wolf want? He kept an assertive eye on him.

Speaking of eyes, his own cold blues seemed intriguing. Or, that was what he first gathered from the man's gaze which was soon confirmed with his following words. The Svartell did not utter a thank you for why should he? It was not as though his eye colour was a result of hard work and skill, rather he had simply been born with them.

It was the last words relating to his eyes that caught his attention most, and he tilted his head ever so slightly once more - it had never crossed his mind, the idea of stealing eyes, pulling them free from the sockets they belonged in. What motives did this wolf have, to think up such a thing? Aries himself was not against the idea of it, but not his own eyes. "That is not a skill." He stated blankly, cool gaze still focused on this man, and after a second thought - "Why would you want my eyes? They would be of no use if you took them."

Then came the request to call for @Vaati, and he gave another grunt before lifting his ashen head and howling to the clouded sky.

rofl sorry iliksis is such a turd

it was not surprising that aries did not understand; how could he? in his young life, he had likely never once come across a wolf quite like iliksis. there were not many wolves like iliksis, fashioned from some corrupted blade with no righteousness present in their cold blood. these wolves were fractured and dangerous individuals, and often their kind did not live very long.

iliksis offered a thin smile. "they would be of great use. it is not the eyes that is the skill, it is the taking of them." he supplied coolly, still admiring that byzantine blue that aries' eyes sported.

Lol

It seemed while waiting for Vaati's arrival on the scene he would be subject to more odd conversation. About his eyes, which was certainly not what came to mind when one thought of an uncomfortable situation. Not that he was particularly uncomfortable, rather quite curious. Again, not that he would express this, in the form of words or emotion. Cold, cold he was, like always.

His mind flickered briefly to what his mother and father might think of him now. Alive, surely they were? His sister was, though he had left the Dark Woods now. His parents would still be back in Moonspear. A broken family they would always be. They most likely thought him a traitor, the boy who had left his family without a word only to settle in the enemy pack that his parents so despised. Blackfeather, in turn, despised the Svartell's parents. Quite funny it was that they did not know his origins, though he was not a member of Moonspear any longer - perhaps he never was. It was clear he had never belonged there.

His gaze remained sharply on this stranger before him, ears tipped forward as he listened. Curious, indeed it was. "What do you gain from the taking of them? Do you find it satisfying? Or is it just the joy of hurting the owner of those eyes?" Aries inquired with his deep voice, genuinly interested - perhaps this wolf felt the same arrogantly pleasing power when causing hurt that he had experienced while ripping the tail and ear from that helpless mother wolf he had encountered at the water's edge.

Today it was Ramsay's turn to do the sneaking, although he was nowhere near as proficient as Euron at it. He tried his best; he enjoyed his brother's habits and sought to make them his own, although in the end, he would deem it impossible and move on from it. His paws were still a little clumsy on the ground, each step still a little too heavy, his breathing still a little uneven. He wasn't conscious enough of the placement of each hair upon his body to ensure that nothing touched him; the brush of rounded shoulder against a dry twig went unnoticed by him, since he was too focused on keeping his feet and nose quiet to notice the susurrus of an object combing through his pelt. A keen observer would hear him well before he hunkered down behind a bush, failing to conceal the sound of his fused vertebrae popping as he crouched low.

He could only make out a handful of words spoken between the dark-dark outsider and the less-dark Aries. Ramsay strained his ears forward, unconsciously ticking the edge of one against yet another twig in the process, and narrowed his eyes to watch, but he hadn't succeeded in getting close enough. No doubt Euron would have gotten much closer, perhaps even right under their noses. Spurred on by a momentary bold belief that he could learn to be as adept as his litter mate, Ramsay chanced one step nearer, and froze when his paw neatly snapped a dry stick in two.

Ramsay is just trying to watch like his bro does, but he's not very good at sneaking, so they're welcome to / encouraged to notice him. :P If they don't end up noticing him then feel free to skip him.

iliksis sighed at the question, for it showed the boy lacked true sight or understanding of the the iniquitous drive that formed iliksis' cognitive abilities. he could not explain the shade that warped him, nor how inexplicably satisfying the act of demoralizing another being's life was -- taking, abusing, degrading -- every defilement iliksis exacted gave rise to his station, cemented his position as authoritative and unrelinquishing power. aries would simply have to see for himself, though iliksis knew when that time came the boy would find no joy in it.

he was about to simply say nevermind when the bustle of twigs and snow betrayed the presence of a lurker. iliksis trained his gaze on a puppy even younger than aries -- a hideously contorted, deformed puppy that was crouching amongst the bramble. the gods were cruel to lend iliksis, deformed of mind and soul, a perfectly functioning body -- whilst this youth, castigated by the blight that truncuated his features, was given a frail and misshapen figure.

"who is your friend?" he asked of aries, delighted to now have not one, but two potential subjects to terrorize. in good time, anyway.

Vaati steps past his younger brother's disobedient place at the borders where the scent of a stranger lingered, a situation he had specifically expressed they not land themselves in. He shoots them only a disapproving glance, them both knowing that he had previously barred them from venturing near the bloodied line until the threat of war ceased, but otherwise allowing them to remain watchful as the Dark Master conducted his business. They would need to learn anyhow, if they were ever to inherit their own placement in the woods. He had arrived just in time and at a comfortable distance to hear the stranger speak of a particular talent the yearling deemed quite odd, but all the more intruiging. He had never heard that one before come from a loner's mouth, spoken as if the other had already lived within the woods and adopted its signature ideaology. Stepping fully from the shadows, Vaati pauses before the other, ears flickering with intentive curiosity. "You take eyes, huh?" Well, it was an interesting commodity. As Aries suggested, there was a certian satsfaction in taking what wasn't yours to take. An eye, a limb, a tongue, a head; there was something about the act in itself that showed a display of power to the tortuer that one could not achieve anywhere else. It was a sign of utmost cruelty and an unparralled strong mind, if one had the mental resilience to accept what they had done. It was these kinds of souls the dark woods needed, the ones they favoured, the kind they used to have and would now look only to accept as they grew stronger and increasingly lethal. The kind that held no transgressions about what needed to be done, acted on no hesitance to commit the most barbaric of deeds. "Would you take eyes in service of us?" Vaati proposes the idea to the other's consious, wondering if the skill the stranger offered could be put to use by his command. Those who arrived at their borders with an already instilled sense of chaos were wildcards in his book, for they often ran on their own agenda. They already knew what they wanted and who they wanted to take it from, and perhaps, were more deadly than what the woods could make them into. He could see the man before him becoming a valueable asset to the dark woods, if the other had the mind to follow orders and submit his skills to Vaati's will.

Feel free to skip Aries any time now, he'll mostly be watching.

There was no answer from the male but he lacked the care - simply shrugging his shoulders. He did not, particularly, need the male's input on the subject. For he knew his reasons to enjoy it, and someone elses did not matter to him.

There was a snap of twigs and a crunch of snow, so the ashen boy pivoted his head to peer at the small youth hiding out in the darkness. But his cover had been blown, now. Aries soon recognised the pup as one of the incest litter, though he did not despise them for this fact. He was not so cold as to believe it was their fault, and if he was honest he held nothing against any of the three. Maegi he liked, and he'd met Euron too. Not Ramsay, but but he came to the conclusion that that was this one here, with the missing neck.

Turning back to the stranger at the borders, he was preparing to open his grey maw and speak the name of the youngster, but he decided against it. Vaati arrived swiftly in the pause, clearly having spotted Ramsay on his way here, and Aries dipped his head to the older boy - although he may have disliked him in the past, Vaati was the Dark Master and the Svartell child was cautious to respect this. He was not, despite all, a traitor.

Now he listened, curious as to how this would be handled in the paws of said Dark Master.

Ramsay can also be skipped as needed to move this along! He'll just lurk.

He breath hitched in his little barrel-shaped chest when both wolves locked eyes with him. His gaze danced rapidly between Aries' chill blue and Iliksis' dull yellow, and he made a half-hearted effort to shrink back into the shadows, but he was caught. He could feel the looming presence of Iliksis when the man spoke of him, and there was something about it that bothered him, like an itch he couldn't reach or describe. He didn't know what it was, and when Vaati arrived, he promptly forgot it. He greeted his brother with a pleasantly wagging tail, having long since forgotten that he was not supposed to be here, and crept back into the bushes to continue pretending to be Euron.

He snuck some short distance away, still within earshot and viewing distance of the congregation, and settled low down on his haunches to listen to what was being said. Something about taking eyes that he didn't quite get; that was too abstract a concept. Nevertheless, Ramsay blinked reflexively and once more felt a queer, inexplicable prickle around his shoulders when he glanced to Iliksis.

iliksis may have been disappointed he did not learn the name of the stunted pup, but he did not press the subject. another wolf broke from the gloomy forest, and by his bearing iliksis immediately knew him as the beast that aries had summoned. iliksis studied him openly, noting he was quite young -- all the same it was evident from both the pup's body language and the shift in aries' posture that this was the commander of these grim and ghastly parts.

iliksis smiled. for all of his expression's girth, it had the warming effect of an exposed skull's bare grin.

he had no intention of submitting his will to anyone -- least of all a wolf hardly old enough to copulate (which, to iliksis, was an important asset to have). unfortunately for the grey-clad coywolf, his winter would be at end if he did not align himself with a pack soon. he resented the idea of sheltering amongst any individual, yet he hid it extraordinarily well.

"i am iliksis." he introduced himself, a cant of his wicked muzzle given as he finished his visual dissection of the tall male. "and i can do much more for you than simply take eyes." his malicious smile widened, and a dark expression descended across his cruel face.

The stranger's beguiling, cheshire grin flashes in malicious nature, as if born out of the depths of dark woods itself; the crooked smile charged by a body who offered skills Vaati would not refuse. "Good." He nods affirmatively, visually satisfied with the answer. The stranger showed promise, perhaps too much of it, but raw potential nonetheless. Quite blatantly, the machiavellian man seemed to hold an unforgiving disposition for bloodlust; the stuff Blackfeather Woods had been born out of and culled amidst the darkness. "You start today. There is a war coming, fight and kill and we will see how well your talents are put to use." The titan does not say so condescendingly, Vaati means every word he says in hard truth. They are due for a bloody one, ruled by dirty tricks and governed by chaos. Perhaps, had the dark woods existed in the state they had been in months prior, there would be no cause to fight for and no reason to do so. They had lived off reputation only with very little evidence to back up their claims of being eternally supreme in the face of all others. No longer would the claim be by reputation only; they would live up to their expectations if Vaati had to grip them by the necks and threaten achievement out of them as no Dark Master had done before.

a war. iliksis was torn by this prospect. on the one hand, a war left many corpses -- corpses he could raze and dominate how he saw fit. it also tended to leave the vulnerable and just barely alive behind in its wake, something the man was eager to take advantage of. on the other, it often required tremendous risk of life and limb -- something the oilly wolf was not keen on lending. he kept his inward trepidation invisible, flicking his gaze to vaati with a somewhat hopeful expression. in the end, his lust for defilement won, and he cracked a bare grin once more. "suits me."

he would go to war -- if only to satisfy himself. if there was nothing else vaati wished to say of him, the wretch would slink off to make his own preparations.

Ramsay was quickly growing bored of the conversation—Adults Talking wasn't on his list of favourite games—but perked up considerably when his brother used a word he didn't know, in conjunction with several words he did know that implied violence. Forgetting entirely that he was pretending to be his much stealthier litter mate, he piped up from the bare bushes, "what's war?"

iliksis was quick to quit vaati's company, but a titter from the bushes gave him pause and he looked over the concealed form, which blurted a query that caused a strange smile to creep across iliksis' muzzle.

"not for kids, is what it is." he growled, stepping past ramsay with striding purpose. it was surely an answer that would not please ramsay, but that matter was of no consequence to the dark furred man. without anything else spoken, he made to explore the territory alone.
