The bones in one of Dragomir's hind legs had finally set and repaired itself. The pain was still there, but compared to what he'd endured in the first days following the incident, it was laughable. The other leg still wasn't ready, and he was advised to remain still until the end of the month when they would begin working on getting him back to his feet, but for the first time, Dragomir felt a surge of hope. He wasn't going to be stuck lying in one place the rest of his life. He would get to walk again.

That hope led to impatience. After two days of following doctor's orders, Dragomir decided that he had one functioning hind limb, he would be able to walk just fine. What he didn't realize was that his muscles had atrophied to the point that his hind limbs resembled thin twigs moreso than powerful wolf legs, and the utter stiffness of his body would cause them to seize the second he tried. Nevertheless, the boy pressed his shoulders up, straightened his front legs out, began shakily lifting himself up onto his hind leg... and then collapsed, yelling out in pain, as every weakened muscle in the back end of his body spasmed.
