Aquene had too many family issues of her own to desire children anytime soon… for now, she was content to simply let others go through the pain she knew pregnancy brought and help them rear their children. He mentioned he hadn’t known that was possible, and she nodded. “There are herbs that help conceive… and likewise there are herbs that can be used to help prevent… mixed with others it can even help repress a heat cycle.” With it came cramping, nausea, vomiting sometimes… but she did not mention such ill side effects to him. She had done it once out of desperation, and she would do it again if she needed to simply for security. “I… I’ve done it before.” She admitted softly, and it didn’t take an expert to know why. “To be safe… and I can do it again. I’ve kept stock of the necessary materials since the pack meeting where the Imperator and Matrona clearly stated the law.” She wanted to have options for the other women, not thinking she would find herself in that situation at all, and thankfully some of the herbs required were resistant to the cold similar to pine trees.
 
He spoke of her scent changing and she nuzzled her softly. “My scent won’t be as strong as other women… when I suppress my heat, it’s not as alluring, sometimes even undetectable… and even if we do… I can make sure we do not become parents.” Herbs truly were magical… She was not prepared for that either. “I am not ready to be a mother.” She had far too much to work through on her own before she could think about bearing children and being responsible for another’s life… a child’s life. It was different when she did not have a connection like a mother did.
