The burning continued. Meridian felt an itch. Everything ached. Energy slowly depleting. The meadow was a prominent source of allergies. Bees buzzed, pollinators flew past. Oh why did time pass ever so slowly here! She sneezed once, before rolling in the wildflowers under the dawn sun.

the scent yanked at ancelin. he knew it and yet he did not. but female and canine enough was the fragrance that he slipped from the bear valley and into the meadow he felt also belonged to them.
there, wanting instinct warred with anger at seeing yet another interloper, this one a coyote. ancelin slipped into a hunting crouch and then a run with deadly intent: either way he would be satisfied.

Her attention snapped to the moth erupting from the grass. Dual toned eyes watched it intently, as it fluttered up, and flew, spurred on by a stray breeze. Meridian didn't notice the wolf sprinting through the wheat-grass, and when she did, she crouched down, perfectly still in the meadow shrubbery.

She was too bold for her own good.

his teeth reached for her, sought to puncture, to rake.
his mind was enlivened by her scent, bloodlust rising. he did not want her beyond the unexpected yearning of his flesh, and therefore instinct commanded that he remove this threat to his own pups.
if she veered, ancelin dodged with her, at least the first time, intending to maim if not destroy.
