sapphique was not far from where chani had stopped in the taiga, but another time she would unsnarl the principle of why she had not gone home first.
she caught first fire meandering the coast; she came to second flame beyond the mountains, breath hot and eyes wondering. chani knew what this was and had expected it, but the young woman did not foresee how much her skin would ache, how the very bottoms of her feet seemed to sweat.
the great bear was somewhat familiar for the seawolf. she had thought she would make it to the glen before hunger forced her to pause, a shimmering beacon of soft reds which called in silent wonder for men to attend her presence.

Alaric had not planned on finding a she wolf anytime soon. And to be frank, even with the scent on the air. He had not meant to now either. But the caregiver in him, forced his paw. And he headed towards the scent that burned his chest and eyes. And caught sight of a wolf that smelled of sea salt and brimstone. that was colored in auburn and flame. he tilted his head. She was young. Perhaps too young for him. But Alaric also knew that he could possibly be the best fit, as he would be gentle. Show her how it was ot be loved and then if she so desired let her go. But first and foremost. He had ot figure out exactly what it was she wanted. 

Hello there firebrand.

tall, shadowed as if he were a blackpine. kind eyes to remind chani of seastone. greeting, respectful. she danced forward to taste his fur; stepped back to glance around him. "mountain man."
shoulder rubbed to shoulder; chani cantered off and looked back as if to summon him on, the singe of her eyes demanding a good run.
seasiren coursed away! would he chase?
this was woman; this was the threading saltsong her mother and aunts and grandmothers had carried, the legacy chani chased now.

Alaric was unsure at first. Part of him was a bit torn as she was only slightly older than his daughter. But the trader in him. Knew this for what it was. A transaction of time and energy. Hopefully that bore fruit that he would have no stock in. But this was not new to him. 

So instead of wondering and second guessing. He offered an impish smile that lit up the green of his eyes. He loved to run. He loved to jump and be recklessly wild.

He bowed forward and as she ran he gave chase. Ans he made sure to deliver of catch and release. Catch up to her. Back off and do so again. Only overtaking her after a few playful nips. Then to run shoulder to shoulder if she'd allow. Green eyes asking if she'd like to lead or follow now

his green eyes were beautiful, compelling chani as he ran easily after her. his teeth raked her fur, his breath warmed the roots of her guard hairs.
shivering deliciously, chani butted their shoulders together and took the race's lead, setting them both for an energetic romp which passed over boulders, fallen trees, tiny creeks, and narrow hooftrails.
her chest burned! her speed flagged! chani glanced around for the man with the pretty smile who had so smoothly joined her run.

She was as sleek footed as a gazelle. And Alaric kept pace. His adrenaline fueled spirit soaring at the way they jumped and ran.

Slowly her speed began to flag amd Alaric slowed his pace to match. His was a stamina heart. And his breathing he found came easier after running in mountains.

An impish smile met her seeking gaze. A flash of green eyes.

he was made for this place of stone terraces and long slopes. chani took him in with her eyes as breath was caught, admiring the sleek darkness of his gleaming coat, and the kindness in his green eyes beneath the smile.
when her sides did not heave quite so much, chani circled the stranger and arched in a rub along his shoulder, growling lowly to encourage his own exploration of her. with adrenaline came desire, and her eyes upturned now to his own urged him with a curve to her own mouth.

Alaric would never make another feel bad for things they did not do as well as he. But he knew this type of running came easier to him than most. So he had tried to hold himself back a little.

He allowed her perusal. Did not move yet. But his body quivered as it always did in thr anticipation.

He leaned forward to learn her scent. And then began a slow perusal. He'd learn all her secrets and then give them back. He was a trader after all. A brush along back and shoulder. A dip to hollow of throat and shoulders.

it was the first time a man had touched her in such a way, and chani's breath stuttered as her body grew stiff in surprise. it was not unpleasant what the man had done, quite the opposite really.
a low sound entered her voice when he continued to rove across her body, and she wondered why his touch to her shoulder should inspire so much response.
her own eyes were bright; her figure giddy; she tugged at his nightwoven pelt, swung her hips against his long legs to tease, wondering when those beautiful green eyes would change to his deeper wanting, for all of chani was answering in kind.

Alaric tried to be as nice and gentle as he could be. While still giving into what she needed and wanted. He knew this could potentially scare her, if he was not careful and he would not wish that on her. 

Alaric pushed his own wants and need to the side for a few minutes. Until finally as with all lovers, the catalyst broke. And his green eyes darkened with that desire. And he shifted to pull her tightly to him. Giving pleasure and taking pleasure in this age old dance. Though he made sure to continue to be as gentle as he could and adjust as needed.

chani did not know it now, but she would come to appreciate that the mountainwolf had been first. he was considerate and not without affection; he guided her aptly and ensured that she was aligned with each action he took.
it allowed chani to be immersed in such an experience, her voice unabashed and the movements of her body against him, with him, were unbound.
she found she liked the sound of his own enjoyment, felt a rush of pride to cause such sensations inside his own flesh.
unprepared for the build, shocked by the end, thoroughly pleased by what she had sought, pleased by him.
chani's eyes danced thereafter, wending close to rouse the handsome shadow a second time.

Alaric took car of her during and after. Or tried to at least. Amd when she was not suited and wanted more. He rose to the occasion. Breathless. 

He would return her blazing look and give a chuckle deep in his chest. And give what she wanted and needed as many times as he could. Hoping he helped her with her endeavors of children.

she slept near him when at last her body's demands for now had been eased, perfectly trusting despite the fact his name was not even known. but the salt-runner was not thinking of that, only of how tired she was, how much she ached.
chani woke again, hungry in a variety of ways. she crooned, kissing until his jetstone arms went gently around her again.
she parted. there was no interest in running, but she was not sure what to say. "t'ank you, mountain man," chani chose, her eyes bright. "i do not intend to forget you."

Alaric kept watch, though he was tired and there was a siren nesr him. The simple fact, there was a siren near him. And he would not have her harmed for Any reason.

A soft smile. An impish blaze along green eyes. I won't forget you either.

He thought about sharing his name, his place. But decided against it. If she had wanted to know she'd have asked.

he alone would ever be blown a kiss by a sea siren; chani let herself memorize the rugged beauty of that first man before she cut away into the wilderness once more.
freedom was upon taste; chani had hungers she wished to explore, and relinquished herself of all duty save these two.
