All Welcome
Derg thought he'd try his luck again at gaining a higher rank.
He wasn't easily put down so he decided to aim for a rank below Vengeance, seeing as he was bested there. He called for the Theta, this time being more humble about his ways.
Don't count your chickens before they're hatched.

He stood dominant, again choosing a similar place as the time before. Firm enough ground, open area. He waited patiently, scanning the strand for his opponent.

Kaertok was no stranger to rank challenges, having grown up in a pack that taught sparring from a young age. He was not, however, accustomed to being challenged by somebody he did not know well. The wolves of Tartok had always been close-knit. Rusalka was far from that, although it certainly had its charms. *cough* Raleksa *cough*

Derg, whom Kaertok knew by sight and name, but not much else, was the wolf who wished for his rank, and Kaertok was not about to give it up without a fight. Injury would not be his objective, but keeping his rank most certainly would be. He arrived standing tall and with his ears pushed forward, readying himself. There was still time for Derg to back down, if he so wished, but Kaertok doubted that would happen.

Roll: 9

He didn't think words needed to be spoken. The man knew what he was called for and looked ready enough to defend his title. He sized up his opponent, knowing it possibly won't be as hard as Vengeance. They were more of a similar height and size.
His tail waved above his hips for a moment, his warning, before launching into the spar.

Derg pushed forward, pushing off his front legs a little to gain a few centimeters of height to come down upon his scruff. Hopefully, he'd be successful, if not he'd make his next move.

Rolled a 2. Congrats! I've written out way too may spars in my many years of RPing, so I'm just gonna skip that part, lol.

You win some, you lose some. In this case, Kaertok was finding that the latter was about to be very, very true. Despite his size (or maybe because of it), he could not manage to best his opponent. This, of course, was not the first time he had lost, and he blamed it on the fact that this was only his first round of sparring with Derg.

When all was said and done, Sungiwok backed down, submitting to the winner and forfeiting his rank. He was breathing heavily, exhausted from the trial, but knowing that he would have a chance to prove himself again soon.

No problem!

His opponent crumbled under him and with a few well-placed snaps and nips, he didn't need to go further. He stepped back, his tail high and waving softly. His head dipped slightly in respect for the demoted wolf. He'd fought well but Derg wanted it more.
He gave a soft smile and walked away to tend to his duties.
