Beau had left unscathed, and whether because he had been too quick, too smart, or if the other had simply been bluffing he did not know. However, now he was left with a new problem.

He knew where Arslan was, he knew that the lion in fact was not missing but had simply abandoned Verapaz. Whether or not to tell was the question. He was unsure if it mattered, but his curiosity aimed for him to find out.

soto unwinds himself from lookout point and tracks the boy's trajectory. picking a stony path downwards, he estimates by the time he gets to the stone quarter beau will have crested it.
