She covered ground steadily, although did find it hard to gauge exactly how far she'd gone. With the sea of golden grass spread around her in all directions and the going incredibly flat compared to what she was used to, it was not what she preferred. The bison scents did grow stronger, though, so she knew she was making some headway.
From scent alone, it seemed that the herds were doing well. Plentiful, and of varied ages and sex, she eventually spied them on the distant horizon, clustered here and there with some grazing and others peering off into the distance as imposing sentinels. About this time of year, the spring's young would be well-established and needing to prepare to face their first winter. She could only assume that the spring and summer had treated them well to make them strong. Of course, winter could change this.. so much so that they may migrate many miles, or maybe just to slightly better foraging in the southern stretches of the flatlands.
Try as she might, there was no telling what would happen come the depths of winter. She was loathe to think of it right now, so readily turned her attention to the new sight of a female dressed in tans and browns -- not all that different from the color scheme of the grasslands. To her chuff, Amekaze canted her head and regarded her neutrally while she slowed down to get a good, long look at her. She did not smell distinctly of this place (nor of anything in particular she recognized), so her initial concerns of a hostile leftover from the pack faded somewhat. But, observations did little to tell her what brought her here as well. Ame remained guarded, but let her curiosity be openly known.
"Tracking them?" she asked with a swing of her snout towards the dark silhouettes in the distance, unsure of how else to break ground between them. Ame still did not know if she was a neutral presence or not, so was ever watchful of how she would be received.
