A lot happened in an incredibly small timeframe. Charon didn't even notice anyone was upset at first as Key introduced herself as Liffey and explained it was a nickname she no longer used. That explained a lot, since Rannoch had asked for Liffey, before. Charon was distracted from the conversation by his daughter's indignant cry and he turned towards her, feeling a mixture of anger that she would shout to him in such an emotional manner in front of others and confusion because he didn't understand what suddenly posessed his girl.

That Lyra was upset was another detail that went totally unnoticed as he watched Hydra usher the pair of them out before he could even ask for further detail.

As they were gone he blinked and said, "Well, that was weird." It was the first time he remembered ever even thinking any of his children had done anything strange. "Anyway — Rannoch told me about you. I guess you're here to stay?" He decided to just toss the subject in, since it was one they needed to address sooner or later. Rannoch had decided to stay in Moonspear, so Charon assumed his, well, good friend would likely want to stay too.
