Lane had finally made it around the mountain chain; even if she'd been blind, she could have discerned that from the nip in the air which characterized her Taiga homeland. 

The last leg of her journey home should have passed quickly and without incident. The taiga was made up of snowy plains and freezing flatlands, not much for beauty but easy enough for travel. 

However, the Sequoia Coast was intent on throwing one more curveball before it allowed Lane to escape home-free. Lane stood motionless at the edge of the ravine, staring deep, deep down into the rushing waters below. She needed to cross the ravine to make it into the Taiga, but... where?
