Oh wow, that sounded like an adventure! And, honestly, the start of a pretty traditional romance story. She didn't want to offend him by teasing about it since he was married and all, but she couldn't help the thought. Maybe she'd been old? Or maybe the mysterious stranger had fallen desperately in love with him and he'd been forced to break her heart. Oh, that was good stuff.

Oh wow! Lucky they were there! What were they like? she couldn't help herself. In fairness, it might have been a guy, but Maia had the tendency to think of healers as female by default and wasn't much for that kind of self reflection. (You'd think her own mate would change that.)
